Hey there, HAPPY END OF THE YEAR
------------------------------------
Time slowed, just as it had the day she lost control of the Ferrari during the accident. The world blurred, and instinct took over.
Rose moved swiftly, pulling her gun from the holster strapped to her thigh with her left hand. Her heart hammered as pushed a couch with her leg. With a desperate surge of strength, she pushed it across the room, aligning it perfectly beneath Olivia's descent.
Closing one eye, she raised the gun, steadying her aim. She felt sharp focus take hold, her body and mind working in perfect unison. In a single breath, she fired twice. The shots rang out, and the rope snapped cleanly.
A scream echoed as Olivia fell, landing with a soft thud on the couch.
Rose exhaled sharply, lowering her gun—but there was no time to celebrate. In one smooth motion, she raised her bleeding right hand that held the paint ball gun and pointed it directly at Elijah's back.
"Hands where I can see them," she commanded, her voice cold and steady.
The words hung in the air, sounding almost too familiar. Rose barely had time to process the echo of her own memories before the five figures froze in place, they seemed a little lost on how many things had occurred in less than 2 minutes.
Elijah turned slowly, his piercing gray eyes locking onto hers. They were filled with disbelief, as though he couldn't quite believe seeing her there.
Rose didn't flinch. She tilted her head, her grip on the paintball gun tightening. She wanted more of a reaction—something to break his composure. Without hesitation, she pulled the trigger.
A splatter of bright paint exploded against his chest and for a moment she saw shock and bewilderment.
"No!" A horrified wail came from one of the others, but Rose didn't stop. The rush of adrenaline was too strong. She fired again and again, unleashing a storm of color.
The room was chaos, the five figures recoiling in shock as they looked down to find themselves drenched in mismatched shades of paint over their chests.
She found Elijah looking down to his chest. He pressed a gloved hand over his chest and then lifting it to watch more closer, staring at the paint-stained fabric. His eyes reflected somewhere between disbelief and indignation, it was priceless.
Rose didn't smile, but the amusement flickered in her eyes.
Rose tilted her head, watching as the five figures stared at their gloved hands, now splattered with vivid paint. The absurdity of the situation hung in the air like an unspoken joke, tension thick and unmoving.
Then, a burst of laughter shattered the silence.
It came from Olivia, who was now sitting upright on the couch. Her laughter was wild, uncontrollable, and sharp enough to draw every eye. She glanced at the others, at the paint smeared across their clothes and hands, and laughed even harder, tears streaming down her face.
Rose's gaze narrowed. Without hesitation, she turned the paintball gun toward Olivia and fired.
A burst of yellow paint exploded against Olivia's forehead, silencing her laughter instantly. The room descended into a chilling quiet, save for Olivia's soft, hiccupping wails.
Rose lowered the gun, her finger still resting on the empty trigger. She knew the paintball gun was useless now.
The five remained frozen, their faces unreadable, as if they couldn't quite process what had just happened.
