A few weeks had gone by and Rose still felt the embarrassment each morning that she woke up and stared at the ceiling.
Stupid Raven she would murmur.
These past weeks Mira, Henry, and Rose found themselves resolving cases at an increasingly rapid pace. Some began to grow suspicious of Rose's efficiency, but they couldn't quite pinpoint any wrongdoing, she afterall was helping them capture the correct suspect.
Will continued to bring coffee and extend invitations to Rose, who accepted the coffee appreciatively. Despite his efforts, she remained firm in declining his advances. Rose began seeing him another way. and Rose was relieved to see that he wasn't prying into the details of their cases, allowing her a temporary escape from the pressures of work.
August 25
The morning sun was already high, casting a bright glow over the city streets as Rose hurried towards the precinct, her mind cluttered with thoughts of the cases and the tasks awaiting her. She clutched her bag tightly, the cool breeze ruffling her hair as she moved quickly, trying to make up for the time lost after hitting the snooze button one too many times.
As she approached the entrance, she heard hurried footsteps behind her. Turning slightly, she caught sight of Will jogging to catch up.
"Rose! Wait up!" Will called, slightly out of breath as he reached her side.
Rose sighed internally, already knowing what was coming. She had noticed Will trying to get closer to her lately, and while the coffee had been appreciated, she wasn't ready for more. Not after everything with Raven.
"Hey," he greeted with a grin, looking a little nervous but determined. "I was wondering, you know, if you'd maybe want to grab dinner with me again? Just like old times." He shot her a hopeful look, standing in her path.
Rose immediately opened her mouth to reject him politely, already rehearsing her usual response in her head, but Will quickly cut her off, sensing what she was about to say.
"Wait," he said, lifting his hands in a playful surrender. "Before you say anything, just... think about it for a second. You said you've been having trouble remembering things since your accident, right? Maybe if we went out again, it could help jog your memory. You might remember more about us... about how things used to be."
His words caught her off guard. For a moment, Rose stood frozen, her heart skipping a beat. She wasn't sure what to say. The idea of uncovering some missing piece of her memory was tempting, but there was also a sinking feeling in her gut that she wasn't ready to face whatever those memories might bring.
Before she could form a response, Will flashed her a quick smile and darted off, leaving her standing there, speechless. He didn't give her time to reject him, just like that. She shook her head in mild disbelief, muttering to herself as she continued inside, trying to brush off the strange feeling his words left her with.
As Rose entered the office, she was immediately struck by the unusual buzz in the air. The chatter among the detectives was different today-more tense, more hurried. People were talking in hushed tones, and the usual easy-going atmosphere had been replaced with an undercurrent of anxiety.
She glanced around, noticing the small clusters of people murmuring by their desks, their expressions serious. Something was up.
As she made her way to her desk, her eyes caught a glimpse of Morgan, Riley Greco, and-strangely-a SWAT team gathered in the meeting room. That was definitely not normal. SWAT didn't just show up unannounced unless something big was going down.
She spotted Mira making her way through the office, her face scrunched in confusion as she scanned the room. "What's going on?" Mira asked, catching up to Rose as they both headed toward their desks.
