I pulled away from Josh and ran towards Liv. But it was too late. That... That... Thing, had... Ugh I shivered with repulse. I turned back to the crowd of people. And shook my head. That's when the panic began, everyone started screaming, running towards the nearest exit. Pushing and shoving. Someone smashed the thing in the head with a roller skate as they ran past. My phone started to buzz.
"hello? " I said, as I answered the phone.
" Kate? Kate! Thank god, are you OK? Is Josh with you? Is Jade there? " my mum shouted down the phone. I could hear screaming in the background." don't let them near you Kate, the things. They are dangerous! Find your sister!"
Then there was a bang and the phone cut off.
I turned to my friends, Josh had his arm around Beth who was on the floor in tears. Jade was knelt by Liv, but she wouldn't cry.
" Josh? " I said
" uhuh" he said looking up at me.
"it's started" I said, looking down. "hasn't it?" he nodded
I stood on a bench to address our whole group.
"we are not safe anymore" I shouted" and we never will be again. Call your family's, you have five minutes"
