End of the road

C:6 Jade's POV

"You have five minutes." Kate shouted,  before jumping back off the bench.  We were the only people left in the hall now. Everyone else had run in fear.  I watched as Jade walked through the exit and into the lobby of the building.  Something was wrong.  I mean,  other than watching her one of her team mates be mauled to death.  I looked around at the others for an explanation,  but they were all on the phones to their family's.  Beth seemed to be talking to mum, she was my sister i must add,so we were covered.  Josh was talking in Polish and Ethen was pacing the length of the room frantically.  I decided to just go and talk to her myself. I got up from beside Liv,  and walked into the lobby.  But I wasn't prepared for what I was about to face.

They were pressed up against the windows of the lobby,  only a few but it was enough.  Their faces peeling off,  blood pouring from open wounds,  the smell of rotting flesh filled the air.  I scanned the lobby,  looking for the Kate.  Then I spotted her,  sat on the bench at the other end of the hall.  She was running her hands through her short messy blonde hair. 

"Kate? " I whispered,  edging closer.  She looked up and smiled at me. 

" you alright? " she asked me,  then stood up quickly," is Josh alright? "

" chill" I said,  ruffling her hair as we sat down on the bench.  "I want to know what's happening that's all. "

Kate looked at the floor,  I know she knew something. 

"I... I... I don't know" she muttered "not for sure,  but they are dangerous.  My mum called..."

"I heard,  go on"

"well...  She says they aren't safe that we have to run.  But that...  That... " she let out a sigh.  She looked really worried,  like a mother who didn't know where her child was........

" Abigail isn't with them,  is she? "I asked her,  realalisation dawning on me,  Kate shook her head.

" then we will find her" Josh announced from the doorway.  Behind him stood Beth and Ethen. Ethen had tears running down his face.  "but they deserve to know the truth"

Kate nodded. 

"me and Josh think... "she began,  then looked at Josh" me and Josh know,  that this is caused by a virus created in my dad's lab.  They were messing around with something to do with rabies and it got out a few weeks ago.  "

She looked at the floor.

" those people are not living anymore,  they died along time ago,  it's the disease.  It's controlling them.  They bite you,  and it's game over.  There main aim is to eat flesh....  Animal or human. "

I took a deep breath. " what's our best chance of survival?"

Kate looked up at me and smiled "we build a group"

And so began the start of our family
