"Luke!"i screamed "stop the truck,we've got to go back!" i banged on the back to the cab. I heard muttering inside. "We can't!" he shouted back, " its too dangerous " "But kate is back there!" i screamed at him, "I'm sorry!" he shouted, speeding up more. How could he just leave her? she was family! i sank back, leaning against the cab. "but i promised i would keep her safe. "
"It's four am!" Kate shouted at me down the phone. "what do you want?" i laughed at her, she really wasnt a morning person. "I'm on the third floor balcony, come meet me?" i asked, then i heard the call end. i laughed again. it was our first night on our residental holiday with school. our friends were all asleep downstairs, but i couldnt sleep. i stared into the sunrise. it really was pretty. "what is so important that you couldnt wait until breakfast?" she asked me, walking to stand next to me, oversized hoodie coming nearly past her knee's. i turned to smile at her "i couldnt sleep."i admitted, looking back at the ground. "oh jade. "she said, shaking her head "your gonna be shattered in the morning. " i smiled "yes mum" i muttered. she elbowed me in the ribs "hey, im only looking out for you." i looked up at her "i worry about you being friends with me." she told me "i dont want you to get hurt." "i wont get hurt kate. and i dont care even if i do. your my best friend . deal with it. " i stuck my tongue out at her. " anyway, i promise to keep you safe, so your kinda stuck with me now" we both started laughing as i put my arm around her.
and now she was gone.
i had broken my promise.
