Chapter 13 of Relief

Where the heck Carl Matthews had gotten my number? I changed it instantly after I ran from home, but kept their numbers. I hesitated, thinking whether to answer it or not. What might happen? Will it change the whole thing?

I did.

“I’m so sorry, Jade. Leaving you in a situation like this, I should be accountable for you, but instead, I turned away from you and our child. It was a juvenile act, I know it. And I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart. I really do.” The voice from the other line said. I cannot speak. When I found my voice, I finally said, “Carl? Is it really you?” tears leaked from my huge eyes. I wiped them furiously. I was so damned tired of wasting my tears for this jerk. “yes, Jade, yes. I’m terribly sorry. Can you forgive me?” he asked. I dropped the line dead. What is on his mind, anyway? Is he crazy? Forgiveness? He wants me to grant him forgiveness immediately?

But still, my heart beats for that stupid boy.

I miss her. I miss Jade. Terribly. Her sweet smile, the fragrance of her, the huge eyes, everything. I want to find her. I want to help her. I want to tell her I love her.
