Even though it was technically the holiday break, Shiratorizawa's team was still hard at work, preparing for the upcoming Spring High tournament.
"Smack!"
"Boom!"
Ohira's powerful spike hit the court with terrifying precision and force, the trajectory so clean it was almost intimidating. Beside him, Kawanishi gave him a congratulatory pat on the shoulder and handed him a water bottle. The two stepped off the court, their eyes trailing the others who were still fully immersed in practice.
'Even without Dynamite here, everyone's still giving 200%. That's rare.' Kawanishi thought.
Or maybe, 'Have we all just trained ourselves into this level of muscle memory?'
Kawanishi glanced at the date on the calendar and did a quick mental calculation. Shiratorizawa's training camp was wrapping up, so the National Youth camp should've ended by now too.
Technically, it was a holiday, but the team had quietly come to expect that whether it was a weekday or a rest day, you'd always be on the court.
"Senpai, by the way... what's Dynamite been up to lately?" Kawanishi asked as he passed a signal to Tendou and subbed out of the match.
Ohira paused for a moment, clearly pondering the question before giving a hesitant answer:
"I heard... he's been studying?"
"Pfft!"
Kawanishi promptly spat out the water he'd just sipped, looking utterly stunned. He stared at Ohira, who gave him a similarly bewildered look in response.
"Studying?! Isn't that supposed to be you third-years' job?!" Kawanishi blurted, pointing incredulously at the chaotic Tendou wreaking havoc on the court.
Ohira sighed heavily, his expression one of solemn resignation. He patted Kawanishi on the shoulder with an almost pitying look.
"Just get used to it."
Because in the world of overachievers, normal people like them were forever destined to fall short.

It was New Year's.
A few months ago, the idea of spending the New Year with Shiratorizawa would've been something you'd never even imagined—not in ten or twenty years.
But now, here you were, standing in front of a snow-covered courtyard. From the distance, you saw a bright red scarf bouncing toward you, accompanied by a voice full of energy and excitement:
"Dynamite-chaaaaan! Happy New Year!!"
The rapidly approaching sound gave you all the warning you needed.
'It's time.'
With practiced precision, you sidestepped just in time to avoid Tendou's incoming bear hug.
"Eh?"
Tendou froze mid-action, his arms wrapping around nothing but cold air. Blinking in confusion, he turned his head to see you already walking away without the slightest trace of hesitation or remorse.
"DYNAMITEEEE-CHANNN!!" he wailed dramatically, his voice echoing across the snowy courtyard.
Tendou's voice was as exaggerated as Oikawa's infamous dramatic tone, complete with unnecessary waves and dips. It made your head hurt just listening to it. Without turning back, you buried your hands in your pockets and kept walking.
