By thy long grey beard and glittering eye,
now wherefore stopp'st thou me?

Back at the hotel, you sit on the couch with your teammates, quietly listening to your coach break down the match.
Out of everything he says, only one sentence really sticks with you—
Your next opponent is Nekoma.
You lean back in your seat, arms crossed. Your teammates sit on the floor, chiming in every now and then as they go over the details. But for you, whether it was in this life or the last, you've never been the type to speak much in these group discussions. You just listen.
Slowly, after picking up the information you need, your gaze drifts to the window. The setting sun casts a warm glow over the sky. Your breathing is calm as you sit there, lost in thought.
A few birds fly past the glass—one black crow and one white dove, tangled together for a brief moment.
A faint smile crosses your face.
Then, the crow flies off alone, leaving the white dove perched by the tree.
As you watch the white dove perched on the branch, quietly preening its feathers, your smile slowly fades.
And then—
Maybe because you're too focused on the view outside, you almost miss the faint sound drifting to your ears—
The next second, you instinctively lean forward. Even when your leg bumps into a teammate, you don't stop. Your teammates glance at you in confusion as you stretch to look out the window.
And that's when you see it.
The white dove remains still, gazing toward the distant sky. But below the tree, a small yellow-and-black-striped kitten creeps closer, its body low to the ground. Its muscles tense—ready to pounce.
—The cat is about to attack the bird.

Dressed and ready, you stand among your teammates, unable to hold back a yawn. You're not actually tired, but waiting around always makes time feel slower.
From the side, Tendou catches the movement and raises an eyebrow. His naturally narrow pupils gleam with interest as he stretches his neck dramatically toward you, voice full of exaggerated concern.
"Dynamite-chan~! Did you not sleep well last night?"
Hearing that name out of nowhere, you're startled mid-yawn, your jaw hanging awkwardly.
Ugh, getting a yawn cut off like this—this is the worst!
You feel completely miserable.
Expression deadpan, you glance at Tendou, who continues chattering away to himself.
"Oho~! Don't tell me it's because you weren't in the same room as me for the tournament? Couldn't sleep without me?" He waggled his eyebrows playfully.
But at this point, with your yawn ruined and your mood slightly off, you're in no state to entertain his antics.
That mood carries into warm-ups.
During practice, a volleyball slams violently against the floor near Semi. The force ruffles the hair at his temple, and a drop of sweat slides down his forehead. He clears his throat and exchanges a glance with Shirabu.
Shirabu, however, looks back at him blankly.
'Why are you looking at me? I'm just his setter, not his mom. I don't read his mind, and I definitely don't watch him 24/7. How the hell would I know what's up with him?'
