Three months had passed since Haida's heartfelt confession to Kira, and things had been nothing short of extraordinary since then. Their bond had grown stronger, and the connection they shared on and off the roller derby track felt deeper than ever before. They had become an inseparable duo, cheering each other on through every race and laughing together through every victory. The Los Angeles Lynxes were on top of their game, and their success was only amplified by the growing relationship between Kira and Haida.

It was the final race of the season, and the energy in the air was electric as the Lynxes wrapped up their latest derby match. They had just secured another win, much to the excitement of the fans and the team itself. After the adrenaline of the game had died down, the players gathered in the center of the track, exchanging high fives and celebrating their victory. Kira was grinning from ear to ear, her heart pounding from both the physical exertion of the match and the joy of another championship in the books. But there was someone in particular who was looking at her with something more than just admiration.

Haida, still catching his breath from the game, made his way toward Kira. He wiped his forehead with the back of his hand, his eyes focused on her as she spoke with her teammates, her infectious laugh echoing in the air. He knew he had to do it. This had been on his mind for weeks now, and every day it felt like he was getting more and more certain. He couldn't wait any longer.

"Kira," Haida called out, his voice steady despite the flutter of nerves he was trying to hide.

Kira turned, her bright eyes meeting his. "Hey, Haida! Great job out there. We did it!"

Haida smiled, but his nerves were starting to get the better of him. He had a plan. Well, at least a part of it. But now that the moment had come, it was harder than he'd imagined.

"Kira, uh, can we talk for a second?" he asked, the edge of uncertainty creeping into his voice.

Kira's curiosity piqued, and she nodded. "Sure! What's up?"

Haida motioned toward a quieter corner of the track, away from the bustling celebration. They walked over, and Haida paused for a moment, taking a deep breath. "Look, I've been thinking about this for a while now," he began, his voice a little shaky but determined. "And I've been meaning to tell you something important."

Kira, sensing the seriousness in his tone, crossed her arms but kept a soft smile on her face. "What's going on, Haida?"

Haida scratched the back of his neck, his usual confidence slipping for just a moment. "I want to ask you out, Kira. On a date. To the movies."

Kira's eyes widened slightly in surprise. "Wait... really?"

"Yeah," Haida said, his heart pounding. "I was thinking maybe we could see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 together. I know how much you love it."

Kira couldn't hide her smile. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had always been her favorite movie, and the thought that Haida had remembered that detail made her heart swell. "I'd love to go with you," she said, her voice warm and sincere.

Haida let out a breath of relief, his excitement growing. "Really? That's awesome," he said, his grin spreading across his face. "I'll pick you up at 8. Wear something nice, okay?"

Kira's smile widened. "You've got it."

Later that night, as the clock ticked closer to 8, Kira was in her room, pacing a little, nerves bubbling in her stomach. She knew it was just a movie date, but something about it felt different. Maybe it was the fact that Haida had been such an important part of her life these past few months—or maybe it was simply because of how much she had come to like him. Either way, she was both excited and a bit nervous, but she was ready.

Her moms, Lotus and Nu Hai, were eager to help her get ready, their excitement only adding to the anticipation of the night. They had always been supportive of her, but tonight, it felt like they were going all out, fussing over every little detail.

"Sweetie, I think this dress is perfect," Lotus said, holding up a deep red dress with just the right amount of sparkle. "It's stylish but not too much. Haida will love it."

Kira smiled as her mom draped the dress over her shoulders. "I don't want to look too flashy, though."

"You're not, darling," Nu Hai added with a playful wink. "It's just enough. You want to look nice for him, don't you?"

Kira blushed slightly. "I do, yeah. I guess I'm just a little nervous."

"You have nothing to worry about," Lotus reassured her as she helped Kira into the dress. "Haida's crazy about you."

Kira laughed softly, but the words stuck with her. As much as she tried to brush them off, the idea of Haida having feelings for her made her heart race in a way she couldn't explain.

Once she was ready, and after a few final touches to her hair, Kira heard a car honk outside. Her heart skipped a beat.

"That's him," Kira said, feeling both excited and anxious.

Haida was already at her door when she opened it, looking as confident and handsome as ever. He wore a casual but stylish jacket and dark jeans, and his eyes lit up when he saw Kira.

"You look amazing," Haida said, his voice full of admiration.

Kira felt a rush of warmth at his words. "Thanks, Haida. You don't look too bad yourself."

With that, they headed to his Ram truck, and Haida drove them to the theater. On the way there, they chatted about everything from their favorite roller derby moves to what snacks they were looking forward to at the theater. The conversation was easy, effortless. But as they arrived at the theater and settled into their seats, Kira couldn't shake the butterflies in her stomach. The movie started, and she was quickly swept up in the adventure, her joy mirrored by Haida as they both laughed at the characters' antics.

After the movie ended, Haida drove Kira home, the familiar hum of the truck filling the air as the night drew to a close.

"This was so much fun," Kira said, her voice soft. "Thanks for the date, Haida."

"Anytime," Haida replied, his smile wide and sincere. "I'm glad you had a good time."

They pulled up in front of Kira's house, and she turned to him, her heart full. "I had a blast. Really, thank you."

Before he could respond, Kira leaned in and kissed him gently on the cheek. Haida's eyes went wide, and he froze for a moment, his heart racing. Kira pulled back, her expression playful but tender.

"Goodnight, my Star-Lord," she whispered, her voice full of affection.

Haida stood still for a moment, trying to process what had just happened. His mind was racing. Did she just kiss me? Did she really say that? He smiled to himself, feeling his heart swell. What just happened? He didn't know, but it felt incredible.

Kira opened the door and stepped out, giving him a final wave before heading inside. Haida sat there for a moment, still grinning, completely caught up in the magic of the night. As he drove away, he couldn't stop smiling. He had no idea what the future held, but one thing was certain—things between him and Kira were just beginning, and he couldn't wait to see where it would go.
