After the cops took Ashton back to S.C.U.M, everything seemed to calm down for a moment. The party was still going strong, but Princess felt like she needed to step outside for some air, to clear her mind after everything that had happened. The night had been a whirlwind, but there was still a nagging feeling inside her that she couldn't shake.
Wolf noticed her slip away from the crowd. He excused himself from a conversation and followed her outside, finding her standing near the edge of the yard, looking out into the night.
He approached slowly, his boots crunching the gravel underfoot. "You okay, Princess?" he asked softly, his voice full of concern.
Princess let out a quiet sigh, her eyes fixed on the stars above. "I don't know, Wolf," she said, her voice distant. "I just... I feel bad for Ashton."
Wolf raised an eyebrow, surprised. "Bad for Ashton? After everything he tried to do to you and the others?" he asked, stepping closer.
She turned to him, her eyes sad but understanding. "All he ever wanted was for someone to love him. His own parents never loved him. They were abusive, and it led him down this path... poisoning them, letting them die, just to get their attention. And then he tried to force others to love him... but it made him a monster. He didn't know any better."
Wolf softened, moving closer to her and resting a hand on her shoulder. "Sometimes, people like Ashton are too far gone to help," he said gently. "But the good thing is that you tried, Princess. And that's something a lot of people wouldn't have done. I love that about you, babycakes."
Princess smiled up at him, feeling a warmth in her chest. "Thanks, Wolf," she said, giving him a small hug. "You're right. I can't fix everyone. But I still tried." She pulled away slightly, her eyes sparkling. "You know what, Wolf?"
"What?" he asked, a small smirk tugging at his lips.
"I'm done thinking about all that," she said with a grin. "I want to dance."
Wolf laughed. "Well, I'm not gonna let you dance alone, Princess. Let's go."
Back at the Party
Wolf and Princess made their way back to the party, where everyone was still dancing and having a good time. As soon as they walked back into the room, Princess couldn't help but start dancing with him, her smile lighting up the room. She felt free, the weight of the night's events momentarily forgotten.
The music shifted to Dance the Night by Dua Lipa, and Princess twirled in the middle of the room, with Wolf following her lead. The two of them were in perfect sync, their chemistry undeniable as they moved together to the beat.
Princess's friends watched them with wide eyes. "Your dad's got some moves!" Claudine said, laughing as she nudged Laura.
Princess chuckled, turning to Wolf. "You hear that, wolf? You're a star on the dance floor," she teased.
After an hour of dancing and laughing, Diane brought out the Barbie-themed birthday cake. The lights dimmed, and everyone gathered around, singing Happy Birthday to Princess. She felt a swell of happiness in her chest as the song ended, the room filled with cheers. She blew out the candles shaped like the number 16 and grinned.
"Make a wish!" Diane called, her voice full of warmth.
Princess closed her eyes for a moment, making her wish before pulling out her phone. "Okay, everyone! On three, say 'Dreamhouse'!" she said, holding up the camera to snap a picture.
Everyone gathered around, smiling as they posed.
"Dreamhouse!" they all said in unison, and the picture was captured in time.
Wolf walked over, a proud smile on his face. "Happy birthday, babycakes," he said, leaning in to kiss her forehead.
Princess smiled at him, her heart full of love. "Thanks, Wolf," she whispered.
"Alright now let's dig in to this cake before piranha eats it" wolf says
But just as they were about to dig into the cake, Piranha having been eyeing it for a while lunged at the cake like a wild animal, shoveling it into his mouth with no shame.
The Bad Guys immediately reacted. "Piranha!" Shark shouted, his voice incredulous. "What are you doing?!"
Piranha, mouth full, only grinned. "What? I was hungry!"
Princess couldn't help but laugh, shaking her head. "Guess I should've expected that," she said, trying to hold back her laughter.
But Diane, always prepared, had another cake waiting in the wings. "No worries, everyone!" she called, lifting the second cake onto the table. "We've got more!"
The party continued in full swing. Princess couldn't remember the last time she'd had so much fun. Dancing, laughing, and sharing the night with the people she loved made her forget the stress and danger of the past few days.
As the night started winding down, Princess and Eddie stood at the edge of the party, catching their breath after another round of dancing. Eddie smiled at her, his eyes warm. "This will definitely be a birthday to remember," he said, his voice light but sincere.
Princess blushed, touched by his words. "You got that right," she replied with a smile. "But I wouldn't have it any other way."
Eddie stepped a little closer, his voice dropping to a soft whisper. "Besides... Ashton crashing your birthday was definitely a twist. But I'm glad I got to spend it with you."
Princess's heart fluttered in her chest. She hadn't expected to hear something so sweet, and it made her cheeks flush even more. Before she could say anything else, Eddie leaned in, his lips brushing against hers in a soft, lingering kiss.
The world seemed to disappear around them, and for a moment, it was just the two of them, lost in the magic of the night.
The party wound down, everyone heading home, but Princess felt at peace. She had survived another trial, faced her fears, and come out stronger.
As she walked out to the car with Eddie, she glanced over at Wolf, who gave her a reassuring nod. Everything was going to be alright.
As the night sky enveloped the mansion in darkness, Princess finally felt like she had everything she needed. Family, friends, and the love of those who truly mattered. And nothing......nothing could take that away from her.
"Happy Sweet 16," she whispered to herself with a contented smile, knowing the year ahead was going to be full of surprises.
