Victoria took a deep breath, fiddling with the strap of her bag as she stood by Claudine's locker. Her heart pounded as she prepared to ask the question that had been on her mind all day. As soon as Claudine appeared, casually tossing a book into her locker, Victoria stepped forward.
"Hey, Claudy," she said with a bright smile, using the nickname she'd come up with for her.
Claudine turned to her with a smirk. "Hey, Vicky. What's up?"
Victoria took a deep breath. "So, um... would you wanna go to Comic-Con with me this Saturday?"
Claudine raised an eyebrow, interested but slightly amused. "Comic-Con? Didn't think you were into that kind of thing."
Victoria grinned. "I'm not usually, but Stephenie Meyer is going to be there this year." She held up a well-worn copy of Twilight from her bag. "This is my absolute favorite book, and I've always wanted to meet her. I thought maybe you'd wanna come with me... you know, make it a fun date?"
Claudine chuckled, crossing her arms. "You really love Twilight that much, huh?"
"More than anything," Victoria said dramatically, placing a hand on her heart. "And I'd love to have my girlfriend there with me for moral support."
Claudine laughed, shaking her head. "Alright, sure. I'll go."
Victoria gasped excitedly and threw her arms around Claudine. "Thank you so much, Claudy!" Before Claudine could react, Victoria placed a quick kiss on her cheek, making her blush.
"Yeah, yeah," Claudine mumbled, looking away to hide the redness in her face. "Guess we're gonna have to dress up, huh?"
Victoria beamed. "Oh, absolutely. I already have the perfect costumes in mind."
Saturday - Comic-Con
The convention center buzzed with excitement as fans in elaborate costumes roamed the floor. Victoria and Claudine arrived, blending right in with their Twilight-themed outfits. Victoria was dressed as Bella Swan, complete with a brown jacket and jeans, while Claudine pulled off a flawless Alice Cullen, rocking a short wig, a stylish vest, and fingerless gloves.
"Okay, okay, how do I look?" Victoria asked, adjusting her outfit as they walked through the crowd.
Claudine smirked. "Like a convincing Bella. You just need to look a little more awkward, and you'll nail it."
Victoria playfully smacked her arm. "Shut up."
Claudine laughed before wrapping an arm around her. "I think you look great, Vicky."
Victoria blushed but quickly focused ahead. "Come on! Stephenie Meyer's signing starts soon!"
After weaving through the packed convention, they finally reached the signing booth. Victoria clutched her Twilight book tightly, her excitement bubbling over. When it was their turn, Stephenie Meyer greeted them with a warm smile.
"Well, this is a treat! It's always nice to meet my fans," she said as she signed Victoria's book. She glanced up at them and smiled. "Great costumes, by the way."
Victoria's face lit up. "Thank you so much! I love your books so much—they mean everything to me."
"I appreciate that," Stephenie said kindly. "Enjoy the rest of Comic-Con!"
Victoria clutched her signed book to her chest as they walked away. "This is officially the best day of my life."
Claudine chuckled. "Glad I could be here for it."
Just as they were about to leave, a group of guys approached them. They were dressed in half-hearted vampire costumes and had a weird look in their eyes.
"Oh my god, Bella! Alice!" one of them said, eyeing Victoria and Claudine up and down. "It's really you!"
Victoria and Claudine exchanged a disgusted glance.
"You two are, like, perfect," another one of them added, stepping closer. "How about you ditch this con and come hang out with some real vampires?"
Claudine rolled her eyes. "You do realize we're just cosplaying, right?"
One of the guys smirked. "Come on, don't break character. Let's make this real."
Victoria groaned. "Okay, ew. We're leaving."
As they tried to walk away, one of the guys reached out to grab Victoria's wrist. "Whoa, where you going, Bella?"
That was all it took.
In a blur, Claudine grabbed the guy's arm, twisted it, and slammed him to the ground. Victoria, not one to be left out, threw a well-aimed punch at another creep's jaw, sending him stumbling back.
"Damn," Claudine smirked. "Didn't know Bella had hands."
Victoria shrugged. "I had a good teacher."
The rest of the weirdos quickly backed off, realizing they had messed with the wrong girls.
"You two are crazy!" one of them shouted before running off.
Victoria dusted off her hands. "That's what you get for being weird."
Claudine laughed. "Now that's what I call a date."
Victoria looped her arm through Claudine's. "And we still have the rest of Comic-Con to enjoy."
"Sounds perfect," Claudine agreed as they walked off, ready to enjoy the rest of their geeky adventure together.
