The sun shone brightly in Los Angeles, marking a fresh start for the Bad Guys. It had been a year since their final heist, and after serving their time in prison for good behavior, they were finally free.

free from their old criminal ways and free to begin a new life.

But for Mr. Wolf, freedom meant something much deeper now. It meant being a father.

A father to a little white-furred kitten named Princess.

One Year After Prison Release

The Bad Guys were settling into their new, clean life. They had moved into a cozy house just on the outskirts of the city, far from the prying eyes of the public. It was a life Wolf never imagined he'd have—being a father, having a home that wasn't constantly on the move, and living without crime hanging over his head.

But every time he looked down at the little kitten he rescued—no, the little kitten who saved him—he knew he wouldn't trade it for the world.

"Alright, kiddo, let's try it again," Wolf encouraged as he knelt on the living room floor, helping five-year-old Princess build a block tower.

She wore a cute peach-pink shirt with a blue overall dress and pink Converse All-Stars. Her fur was still slightly messy from playing earlier, but she didn't care. She could barely complete full sentences at her age, still learning how to form her words, and even though she knew his name was Wolf—she still called him Puppy.

"Up... up... big... towah!" Princess giggled, carefully placing another block on top.

Wolf grinned. "Tower. You're getting there, kiddo."

She turned to him, her big blue eyes sparkling. "Puppy, up!" she said, holding her arms up.

Wolf's heart melted instantly. "You wanna get up?"

"Uh-huh!"

Without hesitation, Wolf scooped her up into his arms and spun her around, causing her to giggle uncontrollably. It was moments like these that made him feel like the luckiest guy in the world.

"I think you're getting a little too big for me to spin around, kid," he teased, setting her down gently. "Soon you'll be bigger than me."

Princess gasped dramatically. "Nooo!" she giggled. "Puppy big!"

"And you're my little princess," he chuckled, booping her nose with his paw.

As the day went on, Wolf couldn't help but notice how natural it felt to be a father to her. He never thought in a million years he'd be a parent, especially to a little girl like Princess. But he was trying—really trying—to be good for her.

Later That Evening

After dinner, Diane stopped by to check in. She and Wolf had grown closer since the whole good guy thing started, and she often came over to help him navigate his new life as a dad.

As Wolf washed dishes, Diane watched from the couch as Princess sat on the floor playing with her stuffed bunny.

"You're really good with her," Diane finally spoke.

Wolf chuckled. "I don't know about that. Half the time I'm wingin' it."

"No, I'm serious," Diane insisted. "I mean... you could've easily took than offer But you didn't. You chose her. And she's lucky to have you, Wolf."

Wolf paused, his paw clutching the dish towel a bit tighter. "I just don't want her turning out like me," he admitted. "I mean... a criminal for a dad? That's not exactly ideal, Di."

Diane walked over, resting a hand on his shoulder. "You're not a criminal anymore. And she doesn't see you as one. She sees you as her dad. That's what matters."

Wolf swallowed thickly. "I'm just scared, you know? What if I mess up? What if she hates me someday when she learns who I really was?"

"She won't," Diane said firmly. "Because you love her. And you've already done more for her than anyone else in her life ever has."

Wolf's mind immediately flickered to Thomas Chesterfield, the cat who once held claim to Princess as her biological father—but the thought of that man only made his blood boil. Thomas never deserved her. He was her father now.

"You're a good dad, Wolf," Diane smiled softly. "And she's lucky to have you."

12:00 AM - Midnight

The house was quiet. Everyone was asleep, except for Wolf, who was snoring away in his bed.

That was until the creak of his bedroom door stirred him awake. His sensitive ears perked up, and his yellow eyes slowly opened. "Huh?"

Standing in the doorway was little Princess, clad in her purple unicorn onesie, clutching her stuffed bunny in one arm. Her eyes were watery, and tears streaked down her fur.

"Puppy..." her little voice trembled. "S-scared..."

Wolf's heart immediately sank. "Aw, baby..." he muttered as he sat up. "You have a nightmare?"

She nodded, sniffling as she rubbed her eyes with her tiny paw.

Without hesitation, Wolf threw his blankets back and gently padded toward her. "Come here, kiddo."

He bent down, scooping her up in his strong arms as she clung to him, her little body trembling. "It's okay, sweetheart. You're safe, I promise."

"Can... can I sweep wif you?" she mumbled against his chest.

Wolf's heart melted all over again. "Of course you can, baby. Come on."

He carried her back to his bed, gently setting her down before climbing in beside her. Without hesitation, Princess curled up against his chest, her bunny still clutched in one hand. Wolf wrapped his arm around her protectively, his chin resting lightly on her head.

"I'll chase the nightmares away, okay?" he whispered softly. "I won't let 'em get you."

"Pwomise?" she mumbled.

"Promise."*

A few minutes passed, and Wolf could feel her tiny body start to relax as her breathing evened out. She was safe. She was loved. And as Wolf drifted off to sleep with his daughter in his arms, one thing became clear—

He may not have been perfect.
He may not have been her biological father.
But he would do everything in his power to be the best dad she could ever ask for.

Because she was his little Princess.

And he was her Puppy.
