Chapter 32
To avoid controversy, Aaliyah asked Soonyoung to return to his hotel room immediately. She would leave shortly after because Ruby was also waiting for her in the bar area.
"Gwaenchana. Ruby is waiting for me in the bar. For sure that girl is now chugging in some drinks," Aaliyah told Soonyoung.
Soonyoung was still holding both of Aaliyah's hands, unwilling to let go. They exchanged a moment of silence, their eyes locked in a mutual understanding that spoke louder than words.
"A-ani. But it is just too fast," Soonyoung almost pouted telling Aaliyah.
The lady chuckled at that sudden burst of clinginess. "Fine. We should take a seat for a little bit before I go," Aaliyah suggested.
"Thank you," Soonyoung whispered.
Still unwilling to let go of her hand, they both sat on one of the benches under the bright moonlight. The gentle glow bathed them in a serene ambiance, making the moment even more magical.
"Was it tiring?" Soonyoung asked Aaliyah which she laughed at.
"Na. I am fine. I am supposed to be the one asking you that. You have been to many countries performing. That must be so tiring," Aaliyah stated. She felt terrible, but seeing Soonyoung smiling at the stage and now, looked fine with it.
Indeed, her thoughts were confirmed. "It is. But it's fun. The fans were so nice to see. They somehow ease all the tiredness," Soonyoung answered.
Aaliyah admired Soonyoung's dedication. She could see the fire in his eyes whenever he talked about performing and meeting his fans. It was inspiring to witness someone who was genuinely passionate about their work, despite the exhaustion it brought.
"You really love what you do, don't you?" she asked, her voice soft but filled with admiration.
"Yes, I do," Soonyoung replied with a sincere smile. "It's not just a job to me. It's a part of who I am."
Aaliyah squeezed his hand gently, feeling a surge of respect and affection for the man beside her. It wasn't just the performances or the applause that drove him; it was the connection he felt with his audience and the joy he brought to others.
"Were you not nervous a while ago?" Soonyoung asked Aaliyah all of a sudden, pertaining to
her substituting his injured dance partner.
Aaliyah shook her head, a soft smile playing on her lips. "A bit, maybe. But knowing I was doing it for you. I mean, it will ruin your performance, so it made everything worth it."
Soonyoung's eyes softened at her words. "You were amazing out there. I couldn't have asked for a better partner."
Aaliyah felt a warmth spread through her chest, grateful for his kind words. "Thank you. It was an honor to share the stage with you."
"You were a natural," Soonyoung commented.
Aaliyah just smiled. She has been in so many performances that she was already used to being in the crowd, too. She still had that feeling of nervousness, but later on she enjoyed it.
As they continued to talk, Aaliyah couldn't help but feel inspired by Soonyoung's unwavering passion. She realized how important it was to follow one's dreams wholeheartedly and to find joy in the journey, no matter how challenging it might be.
They talked about everything and nothing, sharing laughter and whispered secrets. The night felt like a dream; one they were reluctant to wake from.
