I Know Now

She couldn't believe it.

The thought replayed in Echo's mind over and over, nonstop. It was like something that couldn't be erased. She was so disappointed. As the morning sun rose and the beautiful blue birds chirped a beautiful song outside, Echo lay in bed, under the covers, pure fright filled her body.

And she couldn't help it.

"They're your friends," She thought, "And Elena's your cousin ...."

Gosh, just thinking about the secret made her want to break something. And of course, last night after she found out, she did break a few things.

Last night ...

        "Elena ..."

Her face was cold and stern, no fooling around. She was dead serious. Rebekah cocked her head to the side as she stood and turned to face Elena, her arms crossed.

"And you're going to stop me?"She taunted, chuckling to the sound.

"Yes, I am!" She said confidently, throwing her purse to the corner of the room so it wouldn't be in her way.

She chuckled once more and scratched her nose as she replied, "Oh, good luck with that. Tell me how that goes for you."

"Rebekah, let it go." Stefan urged, seeing that Elena was trying to hide her sheer fright.

Rebekah huffed, "No, I want to see what she can do. I mean, if she wants to spare Echo's mind, then she can't use the perks of being a-"

"Don't say it!" Damon interrupted her, knowing she was about to say "vampire".

Watching all of this made Echo feel awkward and confused. She had no idea what the big secret was and it made her feel scared.

"Uh ..." She started to announce, standing from her seat, "I should probably go back upstairs so you all can settle ... whatever this is ..."

She began back up the steps, but Rebekah shouted after her, "Oh, no you don't!"

She scurried up the steps to Echo and grabbed her by the wrist, pulling her back down, her sly grin never leaving her face.

"Rebekah, give it a rest! If you're trying to prove a point, it's not going to work." Klaus ordered, anger toned obviously in his voice.

She ignored her brother and grabbed a knife that was on the napkin, next to the fork and spoon. She clenched it in her grasp and looked deeply in Echo's eyes.

"Please, don't move. This will not hurt so do not scream." She compelled.

"Whoa, Rebekah, put the knife down." Damon said, defensively, standing from his chair now.

"No, I won't Damon," Rebekah refused, "Miss Elena here thinks she's better than all of us. She thinks just because Echo's her cousin she can control the urge. Blood is blood, no matter who it belongs to. So why don't we put her to the test, just to see if she could control it?"

Rebekah didn't hesitate to slit a long scrape of blood horizontally on the palm of Echo's hand. Being compelled, Echo didn't scream or move, but she stood there wide-eyed, staring at the wound that appeared on her hand. She merely winced even if it didn't hurt, it looked like it would.

Now, everyone was standing.

"Get her away from me!" Elena screamed, knowing her veins could pop out any second.
