Intensity
He couldn't do it ...That's what Damon thought to himself, and he never doubted himself at all, but this time, he knew he couldn't.
He made a deal with Klaus, a very horrible deal that Echo had to be forced in a different room just so she couldn't hear it; so much for using her as a secret weapon. When Klaus stated his offer, he'd refused immediatley. It was completely ridiculous and Klaus would be stupid for expecting him to actually agree. But he knew he'd say no. So he bit him, and of course a werewolf bite is very fatal to vampires. With that, he was forced to agree; Klaus promised the antidote if he'd complete his request, so he couldn't say no unless he wanted to die. And no way was he doing that.
He knew he couldn't, but he physically had to.
There was no choice anymore.
"Echo! Could you come here for a second?" Damon finally called from his room.
He sat on the bed and waited for her arrival, wanting her to never come, wanting her to not be at home anymore. But surely enough, faint footsteps thundered to his door as it slowly opened revealing Echo.
"Hey." She hailed, a warm smile bubbling up his face, that smile that'd usually light up his face, too.
But not this time.
"Hey." He replied back, a bit more plainly, no happiness or enthusiasm shown at all as his folded hands rested at his chin.
Echo could feel something was wrong and she knew that there was something bothering him. She could tell by just one word that he wasn't himself, and she had the urge to find out why.
"You ok?" She asked, her eyebrows narrowing in sorrow as her light brown eyes softened, her grip on the door handle weakening to the sight of his gloominess.
His heart sank by how instantly she figured out something was wrong with him. He wondered if he should just back down now, never bother with it again and only say that he did it just to wriggle his way to the antidote. She was wearing her thick, burgundy sweater, some black yoga pants and bright, pastel colored socks; she dressed like she was still a child. How could he do this to a "child"?
He sighed heavily and rubbed the palms of his hands along his jeans before standing up, face-to-face with her, his expression glimmering sincerity as his icy blue eyes sank mercilessly into her chestnut brown ones.
"Did they hurt you when they took you away so I could talk to Klaus?" He asked softly as he wasted time, observing her many features. He examined things he'd never noticed before, like a freckle next to the ending point of her right eye, or how gorgeously wavy her hair is, even how her nose wriggles time from time, seeming to be an instinctive reaction.
"No," She answered cautiously, grabbing her hair and swooping it to the other side of her face, the ceiling fan causing it to blow mildly in the air, "I don't remember much. I think Kol or Elijah compelled me to forget."
Damon shut his eyes in pain as his head dropped low and he brushed his fingers through his hair.
Seeing this reaction, Echo could see that something was clearly wrong, "Damon, you don't seem like yourself. Is something bothering you?" She questioned in concern as her hand clenched on to his wrist, her eyes searching for his.
He looked up at her, seeing the disturbed expression wiped on her face. He could tell he was hurting her; he could tell he'd have to do it any way, whether he wanted to or not. He finally got the guts to speak again, raising his head once more.
