Shhh ... It's A Secret

*^^ Pouty Damon ^^*

"Why are you staring at the door?" Damon asked, his twisted face of anger softening to show confusion.

Oh, thank God; it was all in her head. Stefan was still downstairs and Caroline and Bonnie were still in the car. Something was nipping at her, telling her to get out of there before it actually happens. She shook her head and turned back to him. She muttered, "I have to go. Now."

She shuffled to the door slowly, getting ready to walk out in frustration when she felt someone yank on her wrist and jolt her, causing her head to bob back and give her a slight headache.

"Where are you going? It better not be with Klaus." Damon shouted, his firm grasp leaving a slight pain on her wrist. Echo scrunched up her nose and huffed heavily, whirling around to face him.

She snatches her wrist from his tight grip.

"So what if I was? You wouldn't be able to stop me, would you?" She tilted her head over to one side of her shoulder so her long, brown hair swooshed over it, the wavy curls dropping perfectly. "I mean, you clearly aren't the boss of me."

He raised his eyebrows, surprised by her sentence. She'd never shown any sign of true sass before; she was always too sweet for that. It was still complicated, though. Out of all the people Damon had met over the past one hundred-something years of his lifetime, he'd never had this intense of feeling for a girl with this particular of a personality.

She was sweet and innocent, shy even, but when she got angry, she was the complete opposite so she wasn't really sweet or mean. She was ... pretty neutral. And that's one of the reasons he loved her.

"I'm only trying to tell you what's best for you. You shouldn't even have the thought about seeing Klaus at all. He's trying to kill your cousin, Echo."

"You think I don't know that?!" She shrieked. "You think that if I could've stopped thinking about him, I would've by now? I love ..."

She stopped her sentence, knowing that what she was about to say could shatter his heart. She just shook her head and continued back to the door.

"Don't bother trying to make things better. Because it's only going to get worse." She growled mildly, slamming the door shut behind her.

Damon crossed his arms and sighed. He had no idea why he loved her. He had no idea why he was so drawn to her. He had no idea why he wished Klaus wasn't alive. Scratch that, he knew. He wanted her all to himself, and if Klaus were dead, that could happen.

That could happen.

"Drive, Bonnie." Echo ordered, slamming the car door shut, her eyebrows furrowed.

Bonnie raised her hands in surrender and mumbled "ok" before stuffing her keys in the ignition and twisting them, causing the car to start and make a purring sound. The first five minutes were silent, only the fierce wind ferociously blowing through Caroline's window was heard, until Bonnie finally spoke.

"Where's the thing you left?" She questioned, draping her wrist over the steering wheel as she stopped at a red light.

Crap.

"Uhm ..." Echo tried to think up an excuse, "They didn't have it." She lied.

Bonnie nodded. "So that's why it took so long."

Echo inclined the same, taking a deep breath afterwards as she stared out the window, watching as the brown, yellow and red blur of the tree leaves sped by. The silence returned for only a little while until Caroline said something else as the car moved again.
