We Were Down At The Hospital

Echo lightly tinted her eyes open to find herself in a hospital bed. She had no remembrance of what happened after the crash in the water. All she knew was that she couldn't swim and she was alive so nothing made sense at the moment. Not that anything had made sense considering all of her friends were vampires, plus a witch.

There was a ventilator tube tucked under her nose, but she was in her normal outfit she was wearing on the ride away from Mystic Falls with Elena ... who was nowhere to be found. Her clothes were a bit damp, but she'd been in water so she barely noticed it at all. Suddenly, the door crept open slowly, startling Echo for a split second until she saw the shiny glare of auburn brown hair.

"Jenna!" She exclaimed rather softly, seeing as she slithered quietly over to the right side of her bed.

Jenna let off a big grin as she saw that Echo was ok. Echo tried to sit up, but Jenna refused.

"No, no, nope. Lie back down," She lightly and slowly pushed her back down into the soft, firm cushion of the hospital bed, the pillow giving the back of her head comfort. "The doctor doesn't want you elevated."

Echo nodded in understanding. She had a massive headache anyway; it would be best for her to stay lying down.

"What happened?" She finally asked after a good couple of seconds as Jenna placed her hand on top of hers and sat in the chair right by her side.

Jenna thought about the question before answering.

"I honestly don't know all the details. Elena just told me that once you guys plunged in the water, since she was a vampire she got out safely. She was trying to save you, but then Damon swooped in and took you back here. You almost drowned because you couldn't swim." She exclaimed.

Damon saved her? That didn't seem right. She doesn't remember Damon being there at all. It was strange ... but she was sure Jenna knew what she was talking about. She might've just been hallucinating that someone else was there.

"What are you thinking about?" Jenna finally interrupted her train of thought. She smelled like her kitchen, yogurt and pumpkin chips. Plus, her warm smile gave off a bright glow, shiner then the golden afternoon sun gleaming through the blinds.

Echo shook her head and ignored any words to the question.

"Where is Damon?" She hastily asked.

Jenna pointed to the door, raising an eyebrow. She never realized she cared so much about Damon. She didn't even ask about Elena yet ... and that's her cousin.

"He's somewhere out there. He said he was coming in a bit so he'll be here. Don't worry." She assured.

Echo just sighed heavily and nodded.

There was an awkward silence. The birds were the only things adding noise to the room. Plus, some low murmurs and squeaky wheel gurneys in the main office hallway. There was a light tap on the door, intruding on the silence. Jenna quickly stood and shuffled over, seeing a nurse with her white cap on and a red cross smacked in the middle of it. She held a glass cup with red liquid filled halfway.

"Ms. Sommers, your drink is ready." She quietly informed, handing her the glass.
Jenna softly mouthed the words thank you before she left, keeping the door slightly cracked open.

"I'd better hit the road, Echo," She said apologetically. She broke through mid-way of her sentence. "No, no, no, Jenna, you're fine."

"Yeah, Elena needs me back at the house. I'll see you there once you're free to go, ok?" She continued.
