Captured By KatherineEcho opened her eyes to darkness. Pure, pitch black, darkness. When she blinked, her vision didn't adjust at all; it was as if her eyes were still closed.
"Where am I?" She thought to herself.
Wherever she was, it was cold because goosebumps traveled up and down her arms as she shivered and her teeth clattered. She used her hands to create friction between her palms and her trembling arms when she realized something shackled around her wrist. Her flesh was so numb from the lack of warmth, she probably didn't even notice. As she tried to stand and walk around she got yanked back to the cool, hard floor. Oh, goody, she was chained to the wall.
She sighed as she leant her head against the brick wall behind her. She draped her hand over her stomach where her severe wound was, but felt something like cloth wrapped around it. If only she could see what was going to with her stomach, or anything for that matter. After a few minutes, feeling like decades for Echo, a shimmering light thinned through the room, as a door crept open. The clambering of contact from someone's leather boots to the floor echoed through the room as the lights flickered on and the door slammed against the wall next to it.
"Echo?" A familiar voice called.
"Elena ..." She respired as she saw her gorgeous brunette cousin step through the door.
She narrowed her eyebrows as she saw Echo tied up with chains wrung around her wrists, digging into her skin. She quickly shuffled over to her, grabbing her by the chin and examining her face that was detailed with various bruises and scrapes.
"What happened to you? You look like you've been in a wreck!" Elena exclaimed as she scanned Echo up and down.
"I ..." Echo cleared her throat; she didn't realize how raspy and scratchy her voice sounded until now, "I can't remember anything that happened before now. There-there was a girl ... she looked exactly l-l-like you ..." Clearing her throat didn't give her voice much justice.
Elena nodded as she quickly fluffed a strand of her hair behind her ear, still caressing her arms and trying to make her feel ok.
"Ok, ok, Echo. Everything's going to be fine; I'm here for you now ..." She then paused as she gaped at her hair, twiddling it in between her fingers, "Did your hair get darker, Echo?"
Echo snatched her hair back from her fingers. "Elena, this is serious. Your girl twin could be back any minute. I think her name was Katrina or ... Karina ..."
Elena sneered and scrunched her nose as she corrected her.
"Her name is Katherine, Echo."
Echo's eyes narrowed as she tilted her head to the side.
"But why would you ...?"
Echo paused her sentence as she saw Elena looking down and noticing the blood that splattered over her arms and hands. She looked to her fingers and saw her blood slightly tattered in little smudges all over her palm and under her fingernails. She could feel her veins start to bubble up to the surface of her face. She spotted a trail of wet blood gliding from Echo's stomach and dripping on the floor next to her twitching hand.
"Elena ...?" Echo interrogated to make sure she was alright with seeing the new sight of fresh blood.
Elena started to breath heavily as she stood and turned away from Echo, placing her hand on her forehead in frustration. The fangs itched to cave out of hiding as she felt the redness from her eyes fade in menacingly. The calling of blood was too strong.
