We Need To TalkThis.
That's all she could remember when she left the hospital that afternoon, nestled safely in Damon's arms. She really hoped it would be Klaus, but if she'd let him carry her, she probably would be back at the Mikaelson mansion, being stuck in a room all day until her cousin can get killed.
And that was no fun.
Echo stared at her phone as she sat in the passenger seat of Bonnie's car, Caroline in the back, texting someone. Probably Elena. She wasn't certain if she should call Damon and talk to him with the two girls in the car. It'd be awkward, plus she'd get pounded with questions. Questions she wouldn't feel like answering. So she just took a shortcut.
"Bonnie, could we stop by the boarding house?" She asked, stuffing the phone in her back pocket, deciding not to call Damon.
"Why do we need to stop at the boarding house?" Bonnie questioned, not once trailing her eyes off the road.
Echo definitely couldn't say 'to see Damon.' That'd invite questions, too.
"Uh, I left something over there." She lied.
Bonnie just nodded, not saying yes or no. She turned the corner and started driving down Abernathy Road. Yep, boarding house it is.
Before they could even enter the driveway, Caroline tapped on Echo's shoulder. She turned to her, her strawberry blonde hair having perfect long curls that trailed down past her shoulders."Jenna made brownies at her house. The chocolate ones with white chocolate filling inside!" She clasped her hands together. "I can't wait! Have you tried her brownies?"
"Yeah, we're kind of ... family; she made them all the time when Elena and I were kids." Echo chuckled, adjusting her long, brown hair over to one side of her shoulder.
Caroline's bushy eyebrows narrowed her crystal blue eyes squinted in confusion. It finally clicked.
"Oh yeah, I forgot ..." She mumbled, continuing to her phone.
"Speaking of Elena, where is she? Isn't she supposed to be with Jenna, too?" Bonnie questioned, looking through the interior mirror to spot Caroline in the back.
"Uhm, Jenna said she went to the store to get some milk." She replied.
Bonnie inclined, parking in the driveway and pulling the stick shift to the P. She rested back in her seat, silently, letting out a huge huff. She cracked her knuckles as Echo just sat there awkwardly, watching her just sit there.
"Well," She started, seeing she wasn't moving, "Go get your thing. We'll hang back here!"
"Oh!" Echo shouted and hurried to grab the door handle and exit the car, trying to make things seem a bit less unpleasant. She knocked on the door, only to be greeted by Stefan, who always seemed to greet her with those same, warming green-brown eyes and comforting smile.
"Oh, hey, Echo! Come on in!" He exclaimed, stepping aside and letting her pass.
She returned the smile and scooted inside, Stefan closing the door behind her.
"I'll be right back, Stefan!" She called as she ran up the stairs to find Damon's bedroom. She didn't bother telling him where she was going, though. She knew he mumbled something back, but didn't quite catch it. She didn't want to ask him what he said back, though; her mind was too busy thinking about Damon.
She scurried down the narrow hallway and opened the first door she saw. Elena's bedroom. She quickly closed it behind her and kept searching. Laundry room, guest bedroom, bathroom; how hard was it to find one man's bedroom? She finally found the last door that ended the hallway. She dashed to it, quickly grabbing the doorknob and trying to rip the door open. This one had to be the one. The only problem was, it was locked. She knocked on it-banged on it as if she was in too quickly of a rush.
