Nothing Ever Stays Right

"Just because I'm younger than her doesn't mean Elena just has to boss me around all the time!" Echo ranted to herself, pacing Elena's bedroom.

She was furious with how Elena told her that she couldn't talk to Klaus anymore. She couldn't tell her 'no' because she knew Elena wouldn't have it, plus, Damon and Stefan were on her side, too. She sat on the bed in frustration, pondering about why they'd want her away from him. He was nice, sweet and too memorable to stay away from. Right then, someone knocked on the door.

She moaned and looked up, shouting, "Come in!"

        It was Damon.

He stepped inside, his blue eyes locked on her brown ones. She sighed.

"Hey, Damon." She greeted, looking back down to her hands.

He chuckled and stuffed his thumbs in his pockets, causing Echo's heart to race. Like, she'd seen him do that before, but as usual she had the worst memory. He knelt down to the ground so Echo would be forced to look at him.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked, a sly grin appearing on his face.

She rolled her eyes. "You already know that answer."

"Oh, right," He smacked his forehead, "of course. You can't stop thinking about me! But I mean who can?" He joked. Echo giggled and pushed his shoulder playfully.

"Stop ..." She grinned and then turned back to her sadness again. The way he made her laugh left this glow inside of Damon, like he did something right. He then regretted ever trying to drink from her; he'd have to tell Elena sooner or later. That was his biggest fret.

"What are you doing here?" She then questioned.

"I'm just letting you know that I'm leaving." He responded, getting up and heading for the door. Echo's eyes widened as she struggled to get off the bed, stumbling a little before successfully standing up.

"Where are you going?" She asked in concern.

"None of your business." He answered, opening the door and getting ready to leave.

"Damon ..." She whined, outstretching her arm for him to stay.

He was the only thing keeping her entertained at the time.

"Don't worry, I'll be back," He assured, turning to face her, "Don't get into any more trouble than you already have." He smirked before walking out the door and closing it shut. She huffed and plunked herself back on the bed in boredom.

She grabbed her phone that was next to her head and sighed as she started to text Elena.

Can we see Aunt Jenna and Jeremy?

She threw the phone back next to her head as she stared at the ceiling, thoughts scrambling through her mind.

"I'm in love with Damon," She thought, "But I'm also in love with Klaus, a man who I can't see any more for some off reason. But ... I can't stop thinking about him. Then there's Damon ..."

Her phone dinged, knocking her train of thought off track. She grabbed her phone and checked the message left from Elena.

Lena <3: I'm coming with you.

Her heart jumped. She'd take that as a yes.
