Do Me A FavorKlaus was gone when Echo woke up that morning. She didn't know if he didn't keep his promise about leaving in the middle of the night or if he just left when she started to wake up. Her hand was a bit moist due to it being joined with Klaus' all night. She was surprised they never detached until now. She wiped off the wetness from the palm of her hand on her white pillows and then rubbed her eyes. She huffed and lied back briefly before hopping up and scooting to her mirror. When she picked the crust from the corners of her eyes and saw her appearance, she instantly gasped. She had horrible bed hair, there were black smudges of smoke on her face and her clothes looked raggedy.
"Did I look like this while I was with Klaus?" She pondered, the thought causing her to cringe. She covered her face with her hands and circled them around her soft, smooth skin in embarrassment.
"Echo! Could you come here for a second?" She heard someone call from downstairs.
Damon.
"Coming!" She screamed back.
Before she left, she ran to the bathroom, washed her face, brushed her hair and changed into comfy, better looking pajamas before she would actually show up downstairs. She checked herself in the mirror one more time.
Approved.
She wrenched her bedroom door open and shuffled down the stairs, peering over the auburn brown wooden railing to scope the scenery. Same old empty living room; there was no Damon in sight. She hopped over a few steps before dashing over to the sofa where the fuzzy rug underneath her cushioned her bare toes. She looked around, spotting no one. Suddenly, someone grabbed her shoulder from behind her, an involuntary jump from Echo following afterwards. There was a voice chained the sudden action.
"Where have you been? You've been gone for like twenty minutes! How long does it take you to get down the stairs?"
She sighed in relief when she realized it was Damon. She twirled around to face him, his bright blue eyes showing no emotion. His voice was tinged with anger, but his facial expression was blank, no expression at all. That's what always confused Echo when it came to him.
"Well, sorry. I wanted to look prestentable." She reasoned as he trotted past her, moving to the other side of the couch.
He rolled his eyes and huffed.
"Awe, it's just me; you don't have to do all that. I don't care whether you're presentable or not. Just show up." A grin followed after. She bit her lip, not knowing how to respond.
He gestured to the kitchen, not waiting for her to shadow behind him. Once they both entered, he leant up against the wall and sighed, getting ready to speak. She always got the chills when he did that.
"We need to talk ..." He started, crossing his arms.
Echo let out a small breath and leaped onto the counter next to the kitchen sink, gripping the tan acrylic material she was now sitting on.
"Oh gosh, I've heard that one before." She chuckled.
"You're telling me," Damon responded, giving a sly smirk and a quick wink. Echo looked down to the floor, a shy smile gleaming across her face as she lightly caressed the back of her neck.
"It's nothing like that, though," Her eyes shot up to his, "I need you to do me a favor ... and it's a special kind of favor that you probably wouldn't be willing to do right off the bat."
Now she was confused. "What is it?"
He exhaled before retreating his back from the wall behind him and slowly dragging along the floor, making his way to her. He exposed the palms of his hands to her, signaling that he wanted to help her down from the counter. She looked to his hands, it taking her a while to get the hint.
Finally, it clicked.
She slouched her hands to his as he hoisted her down from the cold, tan countertop as her feet landed to the floor. Their faces were only inches apart and the intensity of the sudden hand contact was just as good as when Klaus held hers. He gazed at her hands that were now joined with his; he could feel her heart flutter. He softly traced his thumbs along the back of her hand as he pulled them to his chest.
"Now, what I'm about to tell you to do will be ... very risky ... and I don't care." He said, leaning in closer to her face.
Right then, a guess came to her mind of what he was asking.
She shook her head. "Y-you ... you can't kiss me again ...?" She breathed. It came out more like an awkward question than a deafening statement.
"I know ..." He exhaled nervously, " ... but that's not what I'm asking you to do." He then chuckled, "At least not yet." She knew and could feel that he was just joking, but it still ruined the whole moment. Although, even if he was just kidding, the thought made her heart skip a beat.
"Then what is it?!" She exclaimed.
He disconnected his hands from hers and moved them to her shoulders. He stared intently into her eyes. She'd known this gesture long enough to realize what he was doing.
Compulsion.
"Go sneak into the Mikaelson mansion and find the white oak stake. It's the only thing that can kill an Original. If Rebekah, Kol, Elijah or even Klaus tries to take it from you when you retrieve it from them, stab them with it. No hesitations. Just go for it. Then bring it back here. Understood?" He compelled.
She nodded, having no control to stop herself from shoving past him and walking out that front door. She didn't change clothes, gussy up, nothing. Just straight up and left. This was the full-proof plan. Damon would kill Klaus that day. He would guarentee it. And when he did die, Echo would have him to comfort her. And then Echo would be all his ...
And Klaus would be out of the picture ...
