Without any hesitation, Klaus threw the branch at Damon. His eyes widened to the flying, wooden stick that was flung towards his direction. He immediately ducked, causing the branch to soar right by him.

"Missed me!" Damon taunted, scrunching up his nose and outstretching his arms to his sides.

Klaus thought this might happen. Not that Damon would have the white oak stake and he would be having a stand-off with him right at that moment, but that Damon would try to kill him for some reason.

So he came prepared ...

"Ok, Damon. You wanna play hard ball?" Klaus jeered, reaching into a knife holder latched onto his pocket.

He pulled out a dagger; it was gray-silver with an auburn brown wooden handle with white thread stripes wrapped neatly around it. Damon gaped at it, fear splattered in the redness of his eyes. He knew what it was. It wasn't a regular old dagger. It was a dagger that could cause tremendous pain as it spiraled through your body making you weak with mood swings, hallucinations and more.

"Your move ... mate." He hissed, seeing that he could identify the weapon that was clenched in his grip.

...

"STOP!" Echo screamed out of breath, Caroline trotting behind her as she ran.

The faint patter of her footsteps grew with a thundering sound as the soles of her shoes fiercely hit the patched dirt. The noise stopped once Echo appeared in between the two, outstretching her arms so her palms were exposed to both of them.

"Echo ...?" Damon quizzed as he cocked his head to the side, his veins seeping back into his skin and the redness from his eyes fading away to the sight of her. "What are you doing here?"

With her hands resting on her knees as she hung her head low, trying to catch her breath, she gestured to Caroline who already had her hands slightly raised in surrender to the sight of Damon's demonic glare. He thought she knew better than to bring a human in between a vampire and an Original's fight-namely Echo.

"Dang it, Caroline!" He scolded, as his veins regained through his soft side for sparing Echo's eyes; it's like the thought of her was thrown out of his brain.

Echo gulped, trying to hide that she was terrified with what she was up against. She slowly stood before she spoke again.

"Y-you guys don't have to do this. There's no need to fight." She soothed, alternating views with each of them.

A hush of silence harmoniously passed through the Autumn breeze as Klaus and Damon stood motionless staring at each other, debating in their minds whether to ignore her or not. She turned to Caroline, as if seeking her approval to let it rest. She nodded, biting her lip. Echo did the same as she slowly stepped back, making all her moves sudden and quiet. No noise regained for a good minute until Klaus spoke.

"Sorry, love," He apologized, "I love you too much to let him live."

With that, he let the dagger in his hand fly without any delay straight towards Damon. Echo's eyes broadened as she saw the new problem unfold before her and Caroline. She raced to Damon's side as Caroline tried to snatch her back so she wouldn't hurt herself, but her hand slipped from her wrist.

"No!" She shrieked as she ran in front of Damon, trying to defend him.

He tried to push her out of the way before the dagger could slit into her stomach, but he couldn't shove her away in time. Echo clenched her eyes closed bracing herself for impact, but when the dagger hit her, they ripped open. She didn't scream or cry; she forced herself not to. All she did was look down to her wound and then drop to her knees, her mouth crept open. Caroline had her hand to her heart as it thumped rapidly and a wave of surprise zoomed through her body.
