Everything Has Changed
"Stupid birds!" Echo mumbled to herself with her eyes still closed as she threw her pillow to the window. She was lucky enough the window didn't break. She exhaled as her eyes slowly squinted open to see the beautiful cream ceiling above her and the gleam of the shiny black base from the piano reflecting off the sun's shimmering light through the window. Oddly enough, there was this warm feeling on the right side of her, kind of like body heat ...
When she looked to the right, there was Klaus, his eyes gently shut and his chest rising and falling. She sat up, startled by his presence and screamed, causing him to grin.
"Good morning, love." He smiled, knowing she was awake, his eyes still shut. Her heart jumped to his sentence.
She groaned open-mouthed, moving her ponytail to the other shoulder and then covering her eyes with the palm of her hand.
"What are you doing? Why are you in my bedroom?" She asked, an annoyed look on her face as she looked down to him.
He stretched his arms and put his hands behind his head, not opening his eyes in the process.
"You seriously don't remember what happened last night?" He questioned like she was supposed to know.
She clicked her tongue to the roof of her mouth.
"Yeah, of course I know what happened last night. That's why I'm asking you now." She hissed sarcastically.
He chuckled. "Ok, ok. I see what you're saying."
"Could you open your eyes please? And sit up? You're not asleep anymore." She huffed irritably.
He peeked one eye open and quirked a corner of his lip to form a smirk. Doing as she told, sitting up and now opening both his eyes, he continued on.
"Well, as you know, you and I talked about everyone being a vampire and then I left. But ... then in the middle of the night you were screaming because you were thinking about Elena being a vampire and her biting you along with the rest of us. So, I came in and you wanted me to stay with you for the night."
Echo's cheeks flushed pure red, so red that Klaus grinned even wider when he saw her blush. She looked to her hands that were tucked in her lap reluctantly as she bit her lip nervously.
"Uhm ... uh ..." Her voice trembled in fear by the way he was staring at her. She chuckled breathlessly, not quite shutting her eyes, but squinting, "T-that really h-h-happened?"
He sighed, lifting her chin with his finger so she was forced to look at him. Their eyes met; Echo's heart jumped with those bright blue eyes. She ruined the moment.
"If you're going to say something to console me, don't. It's not going to work."
He cocked his head to the side and rose and eyebrow.
"Who said I was going to say something to console you?" He queried.
She didn't know it was possible, but her cheeks turned even redder than they were before and there were more than butterflies swarming her stomach at this point. She knew what he was indicating to do ... and she just wanted to get it over with before something ruined the moment.
Too bad something did.
"Echo, may I have a word with you?" Someone requested on the other side of her door, a light knock following along with it.
