LONGER CHAPTER THAN USUAL UP AHEAD!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was the next morning, the morning after Damon had saved Echo from the Mikaelson mansion. Her eyes peered open, this time in a different room than she was used to. She had to sleep on the couch just for that night because Elena had to prepare her room for one more person.
Even though they still hadn't made up.There were some noises coming from the kitchen, signaling someone was in there. Sounds from clinks of silverware and clashing of glass plates to faucet sink water, all was heard. She tried not to disturb the person who was in there and pretended like she was still sleeping when a loud crash made an ear-piercing sound.
"Crap!" An unfamiliar voice mumbled.
That just made Echo feel even more uncomfortable. She thought it would be Damon or Stefan in the kitchen, maybe even Elena, but this person was someone she didn't know. She slowly peeked over the arm of the couch to see a young girl, Elena or Caroline's age with long black hair, bangs that drooped down to the center of her eyebrows and big bulging brown eyes. Her eyebrows were furrowed as she stared down at the mess of scattered pieces of pale blue coffee mug glass that cascaded along the tile floor.
Suddenly, their brown eyes met. The girl jumped and let out a slight shriek causing Echo to shriek just as loudly.
"You scared me; I had no idea you were down here!" She exclaimed.
Obviously.
Echo just nodded bashfully, mouth tinted open only slightly. She moved her long high ponytail over her shoulders as the stranger spoke again.
"Who are you?"
"Well, who are you?!"
"I'm Bonnie, Elena's best friend." She introduced herself.
"I'm Echo, Elena's cousin." She replied back.
Bonnie's face softened mildly to the sound of her response. She'd heard Elena napping on and on about her cousin and she was always so excited to talk about her. Bonnie just wanted to meet her so badly and she had no idea they resembled so much alike. If she knew any better, she could've probably noticed by looks.
"Oh, I've heard about you. You're the one who just came about a week ago, right?" Her tone was much calmer than it was before.
"Yep, I guess so, huh?" Echo chuckled.
Bonnie gestured for her to come in the kitchen with her hand.
"I want to talk to you while I clean up this unfortunate mess I've made. You know, to get to know you and stuff." She explained.
Echo took the offer, standing from her comfy spot on the couch and shuffling her way into the kitchen with the new and obtained acquaintance. Bonnie seemed nice, even if she'd just met her and all. Finally stepping her bare feet into the kitchen, her toenails being painted a fruit punch hot pink color, Bonnie went to the corner of the room to get the broom as Echo started the conversation.
"So ... how long have you known Elena?" She asked, rocking gently back and forth.
"Pfft! As long as I could remember!" She laughed, retrieving the dust pan and making her way towards the glass mess. She looked up to Echo who only smiled slightly.
"But I know you've known her way longer than any of us have." She grinned. Echo's smile grew as she looked to the floor and laced her hands together behind her back.
