CHAPTER 56 - SHARING BED 🛌🏻

Time passed quickly, and before they realized it, night had already fallen. As they continued chatting, Max's mother suddenly let out a sigh and gave her son a gentle smack on the arm.

Max's Mom: Max, you should've told me... I just remembered-we don't even have a guest room 😨!

Max blinked, only now realizing the problem.

Leo: I'll take the living room couch. It's more than enough for me 😊. “Leo immediately spoke up”

Nath: And I'll take the other couch. “Nath, standing nearby, gave a small nod”

Max's mother frowned, shaking her head.

Max's Mom: Oh, sweetheart, that couch isn't exactly comfortable for sleeping. It's too small, and it doesn't recline all the way 😞.

Nath realized it at the same time, his usual composed demeanor faltering slightly as he gripped the hem of his sleeve.

Nath: Ohh... “Nath said simply”

Silence filled the room. Max's brain short-circuited. The reality of the situation hit him like a freight train. His house only had three bedrooms-one for his parents, one for his sister (who wasn't home at the moment), and his own.

Which meant... Max swallowed hard. Which meant Nath had nowhere else to sleep. Which meant Nath would have to sleep in his room. With him. His heart nearly jumped out of his chest. How had he not thought about this before agreeing to the trip 😳 ?!

Max's mother, oblivious to the tension thickening in the room, smiled kindly.

Max's Mom: You boys can just share. It's only for two weeks. You're both grown men, after all 😊.

Max could feel Leo staring at him. Leo, of course, wasn't helping. At all.

Nath: I don't mind sleeping on the couch🛋️. “He offered again”

Leo immediately interrupted.

Leo: No ❌.

Nath : What 😕 ? “Nath blinked in confusion”

Leo: Absolutely not, Mr. Natha. Didn't you hear Auntie say that the couch isn't exactly comfortable for sleeping 😤 ?

Nath: Leo, it's just for two weeks. I'll be fine-

Leo: No means NO 🚫.

His firm tone left no room for argument. Max raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by how effortlessly Leo shut Nath down. Even Max's mother watched the exchange with curiosity.

Leo crossed his arms.

Leo: Mr. Natha's body is small and fragile. Mr.Natha get sick too easily. The couch isn't suitable for Mr.Natha. Mr.Natha need proper rest.

Nath felt heat rush to his cheeks.

Nath: I- My body is not that fragile, Leo 😤 !

Ignoring Nath's protest, Leo turned to Max's mother and asked -

Leo: Mr. Max's bed is big enough for two, yes 🤨 ?

Nath opened his mouth to argue, but Max's mother-clearly amused-nodded.

Max's Mom: Well, Max's bed is queen-sized. It's big enough for two. It'll be fine 😌.

Max: What-? “Max choked on air 😳”
