Rudra sat there all night, his gaze locked on Mahak, silently praying she would open her eyes just once. Three days passed like this, but he never left her side, not even for a moment. Ever since Mahak closed her eyes, sleep had abandoned Rudra’s own.
Everyone tried convincing him to go home, to rest, assuring him that Mahak wasn’t alone—but Rudra wouldn’t hear a word of it. He had gone completely silent, his voice lost along with her consciousness.
Meanwhile, Sudha had recovered and came to visit Mahak today. Back home, only Gauri remained, as Dadi and Rajni had gone to the temple to pray for Mahak’s recovery. Rajni and Alok never liked Mahak, but they never wished harm upon her either.
Rudra had called Gauri, asking her to pack a few things. When she entered his room, her eyes fell on a picture of Mahak, frozen in time with a radiant smile. That was all it took for her tears to spill over.
Just then, Shivansh walked in to grab the packed items. Seeing Gauri’s trembling shoulders, he placed a reassuring hand on her.
“It’s going to be okay, Gauri,” he murmured.
The moment she heard his voice, Gauri turned and, without a second thought, threw her arms around him, breaking down completely. Shivansh stiffened, caught off guard—this was the first time Gauri had ever hugged him, and that too so suddenly.
Her grip on his shirt tightened, her sobs soaking his collar and neck. Shivansh hesitated for a moment before placing a comforting hand on her head.
“Mahak will be fine, Gauri. She has to be. But if you lose hope, then who will give Saheb strength?”
Gauri said nothing. Her tears just wouldn’t stop.
Shivansh gently tried to pull away, but Gauri refused to let go.
Just then, a sharp voice cut through the moment.
“Gauri!”
She jolted, instantly pulling away from Shivansh, hastily wiping her face. She turned to see Mrs. Khanna standing at the door, eyeing Shivansh with a peculiar look.
Taking a deep breath, Mrs. Khanna walked up to Gauri, gently stroking her hair.
“Mahak will be okay, dear. Have faith in God,” she reassured. Then, glancing around, she asked, “Where is everyone?”
“They’re at the hospital,” Gauri sniffled.
“Alright. I’ll meet you there,” she said before turning to Shivansh. “You’re heading to the hospital too, right? Take me along.”
Shivansh simply nodded. “Of course, Aunty. Let’s go.”
Upon reaching the hospital, Mrs. Khanna walked straight to Neel, grabbing his hand.
“I need to talk to you. Alone.”
Neel hesitated. “Yes, Mom? What is it?”
Taking him aside, she spoke in a low, urgent tone.
“I think it’s time you confess your feelings.”
Neel’s face hardened.
“Mom, what are you saying? At least consider the time and place. I didn’t expect this from you.”
