Rudra's hands had come to a standstill; Mahak had her eyes shut. Rising from his place, Rudra headed towards the study room. Uncertainty clouded Mahak's thoughts—what had suddenly gotten into Rudra? I hadn’t even said anything! She adjusted her blouse and clothes, then knocked on the study room door, only to be met with silence. Rudra was busy showering.
Standing under the cascading water, one hand pressed against the wall, his eyes were firmly closed. He murmured softly, “It was incredibly hard for me to stay away from you, but until you’re completely better, I won’t take any steps in this relationship. I know my actions might have hurt you when I just walked away like that, but if I had stayed just two more minutes, I would’ve lost all control.”
Mahak had dozed off waiting for Rudra. He had spent the entire night in the study room, eventually falling asleep while working. When morning light kissed Mahak awake, she found her side of the bed empty. “Did Rudra really not come back all night? What could have happened? He never opens up about anything,” she pondered.
After getting ready, Mahak made her way downstairs for breakfast only to find Rudra sitting in the living room, engrossed in the newspaper. She approached him, wanting to strike up a conversation, but as soon as she noticed Alok and Suresh by Rudra’s side, her feet froze in their tracks.
Mahak, along with Sudha, set the breakfast on the table. During breakfast, Mahak decided she’d talk to Rudra, but luck wasn’t on her side. Rudra was already deep in conversation with Dadi. After breakfast, Rudra told Shivansh, "Wait for me in the car; I’ll be there in a minute." Saying this, Rudra went upstairs to his room.
Mahak, determined to talk, followed him. By the time she reached, Rudra had already gone into the washroom. Left with no choice, Mahak waited in the room. Just then, Rudra’s phone, lying on the bed, started ringing. At first, Mahak ignored it, unsure who might be calling. But when the phone rang two or three times, she couldn’t resist and checked the screen. The caller ID flashed "Megha."
Hesitant, Mahak answered the call. On the other end, a panicked female voice said, “Hello, Rudra? Where are you? Come quickly!” Before Mahak could respond or make sense of it, Rudra appeared behind her, snatched the phone from her hand, and answered in a composed yet firm tone, “I’m coming. Don’t worry
Then, turning to Mahak, his voice turned cold and sharp. “Don’t touch my phone again. I don’t care whose call it is.” Without waiting for a response, he stormed out of the room.
Mahak stood there, stunned by his reaction. She tried to reason with herself, thinking, *He’s not wrong. I had no idea who was calling, and what introduction could I have given anyway? No one even knows who I am.* She shook off her shock, convincing herself to let it go.
Raj had left for Chandigarh today. Downstairs in the hall, Sudha and Suresh sat together. Sudha seemed a bit down since this was the first time Raj had gone away for a whole month. Suresh tried to console her, saying, “For work and careers, kids have to step out. It’s part of life.”
Meanwhile, Mahak and Gauri were in the kitchen, busy preparing white sauce pasta. Just then, Harsh, who had been gone for two days, returned home. These days, Suresh was already annoyed with Harsh, and seeing him walk in only fueled his anger.
As Harsh headed towards his room, Suresh stopped him. “Where have you been? Do you even care about this house? You don’t tell anyone when you’re leaving or when you’ll be back. You think you’ve grown too big now?” His sharp tone echoed through the house.
Hearing Suresh’s raised voice, everyone gathered in the hall. Gauri and Mahak stepped out of the kitchen, watching the scene unfold. Harsh tried to defend himself. “Dad, I was out for work,” he said calmly.
But his response only made Suresh angrier. “What work? I don’t know of any such job that keeps you away so often! You’re out of control, Harsh, and I’m tired of this behavior!” He turned to Sudha and Dadi, fuming. “This boy has fallen into bad habits. I will ask Shivansh, find out where he goes, where he stays!”
Sudha tried to calm him, but Suresh wasn’t done. Harsh, unable to hold back, shouted, “Dad, if you want to know something, just ask me directly! Stop assuming things!”
That was the last straw for Suresh. “Fine! If you’re so grown up, it’s time to get you married! That’ll bring you back in line!”
“Marriage?!” Harsh’s voice rose. “I’m not getting married! That’s my decision, and no one can force me!”
Dadi, who had been silent until now, joined in, her voice firm. “Beta, as long as we’re alive in this house, we make the decisions. Not you!” She turned to Sudha. “If you know of a suitable girl for him, tell us now. Otherwise, we’ll start looking at ourselves.”
Before the argument could escalate further, Mahak stepped in. “Enough! Harsh bhaiya won’t marry anyone else!” Her voice silenced the room, leaving everyone stunned.
