Chapter 16
$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I woke up with a pair of tan arms wrapped around my shoulders. I didn't! I thought to myself as I stole a glance at the sleeping Spencer laying next to me. But I totally did. It's true I loved Spencer, but that kind of love? I tried to remember the events of last night, how it felt, how far things went, but I was blurring. I felt myself under the covers and discovered I was still wearing underwear. Good, it didn't go too far. I felt terrible, even if I wanted a non-plutonic relationship with Spencer, I'd ruined it by starting one out of self pity.
I gently removed his arms and climbed out of bed. Pulling my dress back on, I could feel someone's eyes on me. Shit.
"Morning, Lindsay," I could hear him yawning. His voice was so sweet, so undisturbed by the events of last night.
"Morning Spencer," I smiled half heartedly at him.
"What's wrong?" He frowned.
"Uh, nothing... But Aunt Kaley expected me home last night, soooo~" I trailed off.
"Oh, shoot! Why didn't you say so, let me grab my keys!" He hopped out of bed. "Let me grab some pants!" He realized he too was in his underwear.
I laughed at him as he hopped around on one leg trying to pull on his pants, "Spence, I'm already ten hours late, I'm pretty sure five minutes won't kill her,"
"Yah," he blushed, "you're right."
I couldn't bring myself to look him in the eyes, "Spencer?"
"Yah?"
"About last night..."
"I know," he smiled at me before walking over, "never happened," he pecked my cheek before leading me outside. I wanted to cry. How can anyone be so understanding? I wondered as I looked at the back of his head.
"Hey, Lindsay?"
"Yah?" My voice squeaked. He looked behind him. His face fell and he stepped over to me.
"Don't cry," he begged.
"I'm not," I lied with a fake smile.
"Lindsay, I'm not going to try to understand how you feel, 'Kay? I'm not the smartest guy, or the most sensible..."
"Spence--"
"Let me finish. I just want to be your friend, a shoulder to cry on. You know I love you more than you'll ever love me, and I'm fine with that. It's for that reason, that I don't want to make you unhappy by trying to be with you. Last night, you slipped. You felt bad, I get that, shit happens. Lets just both move on, okay? That's what I want. To see you move on, meet a guy who you love, and he loves you back. I want to see you smile. Just, whatever you do, know you will always have a friend in me." I couldn't respond. Spencer was probably the best guy in the world, and he loved me, so why could I not return his feelings? I wrapped my arms around him.
"I love you Spencer, thanks for understanding,"
"That's the funny part. I really don't," he whispered and hugged me back.
"Now if this isn't a sight," Spencer's mom stood there.
"Mom!" Spencer looked frightened.
"Now... If that isn't the gayest thing I've ever heard you say while sounding totally straight," she said, a grin spreading on her face. Spencer really did take after his mom. They hugged for a minute, then all of a sudden Spencer seemed to remember we were in a hurry.
"Gotta go mom," he called to her as he led me down the hallway. She smiled after us, shaking her head.
You make me crazay,
Lindsay,
And I don't know what to do
About you,
Lindsay,
You're crazay,
Maybe that's why I feel the way I do,
About you,
And it's so crazay,
Lindsay!
You're so crazay,
Lindsay!
You make me crazay,
Lindsay!
But that's okay,
As long as I'm crazay
About you~
I heard a voice singing from behind a door and some great guitar music coming from an acoustic guitar.
"Am I crazy or is someone singing my name?" I asked as we passed the room.
"You're crazy, sorry, crazay," Spencer looked at me and smiled. I laughed as did he, and the singing stopped.
"Who was that?" I asked.
"Probably best you don't know," Spencer turned and led me to the garage. He drove me home.
"I'm scared," I said as we arrived outside my house.
"Your aunt is pretty laid back, you should be fine," Spencer comforted me. We both cracked up.
"You're kidding," I said.
"Yup, you're dead," Spencer said. Still, he reached across me and opened my door. "Scram kid, I don't wanna be around if she comes out,"
Just as he said that, the door banged open and my aunt raced towards me.
"Shit!" Spencer and I cursed simultaneously and he peeled out of the driveway. Great, now she knew I spent the night at his house.
"Lindsay! Where the hell have you been?"
"The Fords'?" I tried.
"You're so dead," she said as she pulled me inside.
"Aunty!" I moaned.
As soon as we were inside her attitude changed, she spun around towards me and sat me on the couch, "Details, NOW! And they'd better be good!"
"Um..."
"We're you at least safe?"
"Aunty!"
"No?"
"Yes! I mean-- we didn't need any!"
"Who?"
"Me and Spencer."
"You did the dirty with your best friend?!"
"Almost..." I sighed.
"Man, I really wish Emma hadn't drove you into a ditch and tried to kill you, being your best gal pal is hard!" Aunty complained.
"Hey! Soft spot!"
"Sorry!" Aunty apologized, "So, what did happen?"
"I proved Spencer's not gay to his parents?" I tried.
"HOW? It took him forever enough to convince ME he wasn't gay, and I spend twice as much time with that boy as they do!"
"We 'did it'," I made air quotes around did it, "and he said, and I quote, 'the gayest thing he's ever said while sounding totally straight'."
"Nice," Aunty smiled. "We'll, I'm going out for a while, think you can find a friend's to stay at?" She winked at me. My mouth dropped.
"You'd kidding me,"
"Nope, out," she kicked me out of the house. I didn't have a phone. I didn't have a car. And I was at least a an hour's walk away from Spencer's. I sighed and started my long journey.
I am suddenly very into this story. Even if YOU aren't. But I need comments! What do you think about Spency poo? Is this a good relationship? Should things stay plutonic? Who called Lindsay crazay? Well I know, but you don't ;)
