Chapter 36: Dad

~Kenzie's POV~
I get a better view it is wasn't Zach.

It was Austin.

"Good morning." He said as if nothing happened. "Who said you could kiss me?" I asked him. He smiled. "What? Don't tell me you didn't like it." He said. "No." I said lying. I kinda did like it. "Let me try better." He said leaning in again. I moved away from him and pushed him back.

"Hell no!" I said. "Come on. I know you liked it." He said. "No I didn't." I said. I can feel myself blush a bit. He noticed me blushing but didn't say anything. "Breakfast is ready." He said. "Hurry up before I eat it." He said, I laughed. "I am serious." He said and left the room.

I get up and do my morning routine.

~Austin's POV~
I left her in the room. I head downstairs and see my mom, Alex and Robert. I place the orange jucie on the table. I sit down at the table next to Robert. I hear footsteps coming down the stairs and see Zach talking to Kenzie. I hope he doesn't say anything about the date.

"Good morning." Kenzie said to everybody as she sat down next to Zach. My mom was the first person to greet her back. Then Alex and Robert. Zach just smiled at everybody as a greeting.

"Can we eat now?" Robert asked. "Yeah. Dig in." I said. We all started to eat and made small talk. I don't know why, but I feel a bit awkward. I just minded my own business and when someone spoke to me, I replied back to them.

I finish eating me breakfast around the same time everyone else did. I pick up my plate and put them in the sink. It was Alex's turn to wash the dishes so Alex began washing them. "I have something to say." My mother said. I look at her and she was just smiling.

We all migrated to the living and sat on the couch. She stood up and said,"I am going back to Texas tomorrow around 8 in the morning." I looked at everyone before I looked at her. "Why?" I asked. I could barely look at her. "Because I came to see if all of you were doing okay. Just making sure y'all were okay from the cops. But now that they are looking for Kenzie, y'all are fine." She said. I could feel her staring me down.

"Are driving to Texas or by plane?" Zach asked. I looked at him. "I am going to drive. I think if they will reconigze me if I go to the airport. If they catch me they will ask me where all of you are at." She said. She looked at everyone. She looked at me last. "Okay." I said softly.

"Aw! Austin it will be okay. Don't you worry." She said and hugged me. I hugged her back. She let go of me and I let go of her. "We will miss you." Alex said. "I will miss all of you." She said to everyone and got up. "Come on and give me a hug." She said. Alex was the first one to hug her. Then Zach, Robert and then I joined.

"Get in here Kenzie." She said. I felt her body close to mine. We were all in a group hug. "I love you guys." My mom said. "We love you too Mama." Robert said. We all called her mama. It was the nickname we gave her.

Mama.

~Kenzie's POV~
After the group hug we went on our separate ways. I was in the living room watching TV with Zach, Robert, and Michele. Alex was in his room and Austin was in our room. He looked upset when Michele said she was leaving tomorrow.

I get up and walked away from the living room. "Where you going hun?" Michele asked me. I stopped and turned to face her. "To the bathroom." I said. "Too late. I am using this one." Alex said. He popped out of the no more. He enters the downstairs bathroom. I hear Michele laugh a little. "Go upstairs." She said. I smile. Perfect! I thought. I really wanted to go see what Austin was up to.

I was going to enter to the door and I hear a guitar playing lightly. I don't touch the door but just put my ear to the door and listen. I hear him humming along with the guitar. I try to hear what he is saying.

"Let's go back to the day.
When I saw your face
For the very first time.
Well let's go back again
When I held your hand.
And stared into your eyes."

He sang. His voice sounds so beautiful. He can sing. The guitar stopped but he was still humming.

" 'Cause I knew you were the one.
With you my life has just begun.

He stopped singing but kept playing the guitar. I think he was thinking of what comes next. I heard him stop the guitar. I think he stopped playing so I think thats my cue to walk in.

"Hey Austin." I said. Right after I said that Austin shot his head up and turned red. "Kenzie! Uh-" He said moving around. He was stacking up the papers and put them in a folder. He acted like he was hiding something.He puts up the folder he had out. He puts his guitar on the side of his bed.

"Are you okay?" I asked him. "Why would you ask that?" He said as he was still putting things up. "Austin chill. What are you hiding?" I asked. He was getting his guitar case out from under the bed. He was ignoring me. He reached out for his guitar. I put my hand on his to stop him.

He looked at his hand and then at me. "Austin. You don't have to hide this." I said. "Everybody knows I play but never has heard me." He said and stopped. "I would like to keep it that way." He added.

"Why?" I asked. I don't understand why he would do that, his voice is amazing. "Because there was only one person that heard me before. I want him to be the only one too. He didn't judge. But now he is gone. I don't want anyone to hear me." He said. I couldn't help but to look at him. He caught my gaze.

"Who was the person?" I asked him. He looked away from me and then looked at his guitar. "He was the one who bought the guitar for me." He said softly. He sounded like he wanted to cry. "He was the only person who was there. The only person who understood why I did things." He said. I didn't say anything. I let him finish.

"He was my dad."
