THOUSAND PACKED THE CLEVELAND dome, but it felt like the sound alone could tear the roof off. The energy in the building wasn't just electric—it was nuclear. People didn't sit; they vibrated in their seats. The court gleamed under stadium lights, a battlefield polished to perfection.

Every time Caitlin's fingers touched the ball, a wave of noise thundered through the arena—cheers, chants, screams. Her name echoed from every corner like an incantation. Every time Kate snatched a rebound, Sterling's heart clenched so tightly it was like the game was happening inside her chest.

This was it. The end. Everything they'd trained for. The last page of the story.

South Carolina wasn't just a rival. They were an empire. Every player a weapon. Every substitution felt like unleashing a fresh storm. But the girls from Iowa had fought their way here—through grit, heart, and a bond that felt unbreakable.

From the bleachers, Sterling's hand gripped Brooklyn's so tightly her knuckles had gone pale. Her eyes never left number 20.

"They got this," she whispered, as if saying it aloud would make it true.

Brooklyn didn't even blink. "They always do."

Behind them, William sat on the edge of his seat, elbows on his knees, fingers laced like he was praying. Clarissa looked composed, but her jaw was clenched so tight it seemed her calm was just armor. Lysander wore a ridiculous "Coss Corp" hat, half-mocking the sudden joke with their dad, and Kaliyah rocked baby Flora gently against her chest, the tiniest headphones hugging the baby's head while chaos thundered around them.

The first quarter.
A war. No other word for it.

Caitlin hit a three from nearly half-court. The crowd erupted. South Carolina came right back with a deep post score and a block so clean it silenced the bench. Kate fought like hell—diving, boxing out players taller and broader. Her jersey was soaked within minutes. Sweat flicked off her brow with every pivot.

Sterling's eyes burned from not blinking.

Timeout. Kate looked toward the stands, and just for a heartbeat, her gaze locked on Sterling. She smiled. That smile was like a lightning rod. It grounded Sterling just enough to keep breathing.

Second Quarter.
The intensity rose.
South Carolina closed in. They anticipated every screen, crashed every board. Caitlin got doubled, triple-teamed. Still, she found seams—tiny cracks of daylight. Kate rotated like her life depended on it, voice hoarse from barking out coverages. She was everywhere.

It was brutal, beautiful basketball.

Kate deflected a pass at midcourt, stole it clean, and whipped it ahead without even looking. Caitlin caught, stepped, fired—net.
