We continued to lay on the sand and look up at the baby blue sky. Clouds filled my view and I laughed as I saw one shaped like a pig. I nudged Mark and pointed up to the cloud.

"It looks like a pig." I stated

"It does." He chuckled

"Woah that one looks like a pirate ship." He noted, pointing slightly to the left of the pig-cloud.

"Wow."

"That one looks like a pickle!" I smiled

"No way that one definitely looks like cucumber." He corrected.

I searched his eyes to see if he was kidding. I couldn't find a hint of emotion for a split second until he burst out in laughter.

"T-they're the s-same thing!" He sputtered between laughter.

"Whatever!" I giggled, shoving his shoulder.

He got up and shook the sand out of his shaggy hair like a puppy. I laid silently watching him until he knelt next to me and held out his hand. I paused before grabbing a firm hold of it, letting his strength pull me to my feet.

"Thanks." I said, dusting the sand off the back of my legs.

When I finished brushing off the sand I peered up at him, his eyes already staring into mine.

"So you're moving in tomorrow?" I asked trying to break the silence.

He broke out of his trance and nervously scratched the back of his neck. "Uh yeah. I like the location and the house is nice."

I flashed a smile at him and started walking, waiting for him to catch up and walk next to me. He fell in line with my pace and we walked back up the grassy hill to my house.

"May I ask what your motive was for moving in so quickly?" I said curiously.

"Well I'm currently living in a hotel about five minutes away, because I moved here suddenly, wanting something new. This place seemed very relaxed compared to California, so I came here. Then I saw your house for rent and I jumped at the chance to get out of that hotel."

I felt that he was leaving some major details out, but I stared at him in shock none the less. "Let me get this straight. You wanted something new, so you came to Nebraska?" I said, obviously astonished why anyone would choose to live in a small town like Omaha compared to California.

He seemed to be scanning my face for the correct answer. "Uh yeah. I was tired of the big city. I still plan on traveling though."

The sun was starting to set in the sky as we made it to my front door.

"Well there is one good thing about living in a small town." I stated

"Oh yeah, and what's that?" He asked

"Well I can't show you now. You should meet me back here around midnight and I can show ya."

"Ooh mysterious. I'm down." He chuckled

"Good. Seeya then." I said turning to face my door. I walked in leaving Mark on the patio. My clothes were still sticking to my skin, the sand not helping. I pulled them off and started the shower, stepping into the cold water. A shiver ran down my spine as the water fell over my body. Mark was a really nice guy. I hoped I helped his situation- whatever it was. My mind wandered as I thoroughly washed my hair and body. The shower was a great place to set your mind free. I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around my bare skin. I picked up my phone and checked the time. It was about 1o:00 pm. How late was I out with Mark? My shower had taken about 30 minutes. How long was my run? I pushed the thought out of my head and embraced the fact that it was 10:00.

I pulled a comb through my wet hair and watched it drip water onto the hard floor. Once I finished I ran my fingers through my hair one last time and walked back to my room to change. I ended up just throwing on my oversized t-shirt and boy shorts. I couldn't contain my enjoyment of what I was going to show Mark. It was the same thing that occupied my sight last night. I know he's seen stars before, but has he actually sat and looked at them and contemplated life? I laughed internally at my ridiculous thought process and collapsed onto my bed. Time moved by so slowly, like it knew I was waiting for something- or someone for that matter. My mom called to tell me she was staying at a friends because she was planning on drinking.

Finally after 2 hours -which seemed like two days- there was a knock at the door. I sprinted down the stairs and paused once my hand touched the handle. Why was I looking forward to this so much? I smiled through the thought when I remembered how happy I felt when I was swinging next to him. I eagerly pulled the door open and welcomed him in. He must've got the "late night memo" also. He sported a comfy looking pair of pajama pants and that same black v-neck. I held my breath when I realized the shirt he was wearing.

"You know I didn't even know you lived across the street until now." He noted

"Yep, I guess we're practically neighbors." I said

"Now what were you going to show me?" He questioned.

I silently grabbed his hand and led him up to my bedroom. I could already see where he thought this could go, and I laughed when I realized the awkwardness of it all.

"You caught me, the best part of a small town is my bedroom." I joked as I pushed him into the room.

He seemed hesitant like he actually thought that's what was going on.

"Get your head out of the gutter." I teased lightly punching his shoulder.

I walked over to my window and opened it, continuing the process of getting onto the roof from my room. I fumbled with the screen that usually popped on and off with ease, but instead wouldn't budge.

"Wanna help me with this?" I groaned

"Sure." He said grabbing the other end of the screen and lifting it up out of its spot.

"Cool thanks." I sighed as I grabbed the quilt that hung at the end of my bed.
I balled it up and threw it into the roof, jumping out after it. I looked back at Mark who was following after me, squeezing his body through the open window. The quilt laid perfectly across the shingles. Mark walked to the blanket and looked back at me.

"I mean you could have at least taken me out to dinner first."
