My breath was caught in my throat and I couldn't swallow.

"Mark." I squeaked into the darkness.

"hm? yeah?" his raspy sleep-voice responded.

"I'm sorry to wake you, but can you grab my water please?"

The surgery rendered me useless. Any movement I tired to make, hurt. I was god-awfully sore everywhere. It sucked.

"Yeah."

"Thank you." I whispered as he handed me the large jug.

"mhm."

The water felt like a blessing gliding down my throat. After my drink I bent forward and did my best to set the water on the nightstand. I grunted as I did so, my bandaged arm moving slightly in the process. Once I moved myself back into a comfortable position, I peered over at Mark. His frame was pulled into the fetal position on the small recliner. I giggled silently to myself and stuck out my bottom lip. Poor guy. My mind buzzed with new found energy as my eyes scanned over the dark room. The shade was drawn, but small rays of artificial blue light poured through.

Another hour passed of me staring into the nothingness of the hospital ceiling. I tilted my head to the side to look at Mark. At that moment in time, I felt my heart yearn for his touch. Even though he was only maybe a foot or two away, I missed him. His flight was today. He'd be gone for who knows how long. Sadness sunk into my thoughts and stayed, constantly reminding me of the empty apartment I would return to.

"Miss. Up, up. It's time to switch out your bandages."

I went to roll over but immediately stopped myself. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and tried my best to sit up. She started right away, unwrapping the mostly clean bandage and replacing it with an even cleaner one. While this tedious process was undergo, I couldn't help but peek at Mark. He had moved into a different position so that he was sitting upright in the chair. His head hung low, giving a spectacular view of his rather attractive bed head. It was easy to tell he was in an uncomfortable spot.

"Mark." I whispered

The nurse lady left with my old bandages, shutting the door firmly behind her. I placed my attention back on Mark.

"Markk." I stated slightly louder.

He shifted in his chair and inhaled sharply before pulling his head up.

"Good morning." I said once I saw his semi-awake state.

"Morning."

His deep morning voice resonated inside my head. I couldn't stop the smile that made its way onto my face. I peered down at my lap, playing with the cotton fibers woven into my hospital blanket.

"Don't you have a plane to catch?"

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about." he sighed

"Ok..?"

"Well it really isn't my place, but I think you could use a little help around the house, with your arm and all. So I was wondering if I could stay at your place for a little longer?" the end of his sentence formed a question as he nervously scratched the back of his head.

I smiled again and nodded. "Of course Mark. You're always welcome."

What was I doing!? I'm making it sound like I'm the one waiting for him!

"Really? Awesome." he grinned and peered down at his lap just like I had done before.

"Miss (L/n)?"

I internally rolled my eyes as this was maybe the fortieth time someone has called me 'Miss' today. It was polite and all, but I just wanted to go home.

"We got some X-rays and it appears you also fractured your humerus."

"Of course." I mumbled under my breath.

"We will have to fit you for a cast, but after that you'll be out of here!" the man stated enthusiastically.

He left the room after that and right as his back faced me I mocked his very words like an immature five year old. Mark hadn't left yet, other than to eat and use the restroom, which really didn't count as leaving since the restroom was in my room.

"You should go back to the apartment and get some sleep. I know for a fact that chair isn't comfortable." I suggested

"And leave you? No way."

I couldn't stop the giggle that escaped my lips.

"I'll be fine Mark. I can call you when they let me out."

"Nope."

"Mark please go. Sleep. Shower. Look after the apartment. I'm okay."

His face showed sign of deep thought as he rested on the couch, phone in hand.

MARKS P.O.V

I didn't want to leave, but there was no denying the fact. We both knew. I was tired. So so tired, and I really needed to make a video. I gave in to her request giving her a light hug before walking out the door with my phone and laptop in hand.

The drive home- I shouldn't call it that, but it felt so much like that- was quiet. Her apartment reminded me of her in every single way including the warmth. Her room radiated with her scent which was a pleasant almost vanilla smell with a hint of mint? I'm not sure, but the scent was hers and it was mesmerizing. The bed in her room was just how she left it, perfectly unmade. There were notes and sketches littered around her laptop on her desk. I scanned the room one final time before returning to my own cozy bed.

I woke up a surprising total of three hours later to a text from (y/n). It was a picture of her and her cast. The cast was a pristine white that formed around her thumb, but it was her smile that really caught my eye. The bags under her eyes were very noticeable, but her eyes still glowed along with that radiating smile. A few stray hairs that didn't make her messy bun framed her face. She was absolutely beautiful. I typed back a simple: "Nice! Can't wait to sign it;)" before placing my phone back on my nightstand and hopping into the shower.
