Some time later, we dropped them off at the hotel so they could check in and rest. Also, when Ada needed her nap. So while they do that, Linus and I were on our way to the photo studio.

"Can we stop by a McDonald's?" I asked while texting a client. "I'm kinda hungry."

"Sure, I'm hungry too," he said.

"Not that it's a good thing, but my client is running late. Which means there's time for me to have a quick grub."

"By the way, what's up between you and Jake?"

I turned to him with this weird look on my face. "What are you talking about?"

Linus smirked. "I saw how you look at him. Did you guys use date, or something...?"

"Not really, we never dated, but I used to have a crush on him."

"Aah... okay. Is he single?"

"I don't know, I sorta have no news about him after he went to college. Plus, he's more of my brother's friend," I explained. "I was just the little sister secretly crushing on her big brother's best friend."

"But do you think he's single, though?" Linus asked again.

"Why does that matter?"

"Come on, he's handsome, he's a Harvard graduate, and a successful businessman who is apparently a VP in the candle business. Guys like that must have women lining up to date him."

I rolled my eyes. "Good for him. Wait. How did you know all that about Jake?"

Linus got sheepish. "Oh, I looked him up online while you were helping them check in," he admitted. "But what I didn't see was whether he has a girlfriend or not? What? I got curious. I mean, look at him."

"Uhm... I guess," I responded.

"You are so in denial," he snickered.

"What in the world are you trying to imply?"

"You liiiike him."

"How many people do you think I liiiike? First, it's Roy. Now you just met my old high school crush, you think it's him," I scoffed. "It's bad enough Fallon thinks you and I are together."

"Yeah, that was hilarious," Linus chuckled. "But tell me, what's Jake like? I mean, what did you like about him before?"

"Jake was nice and cool. He didn't mind having me around whenever he came over to the house, and he would look out for me."

"Aww... So how come you didn't go out with him before if you liked him? Did you feel awkward because he's your brother's best friend?"

"Well, that." I let out a heavy sigh and rubbed my forehead. "Oh, God..."

From that last part, that made Linus more intrigued. "Why? What's wrong?"

"It's actually something I never want to look back on."

"Why? What did he do? Tell me. Tell me."

"I caught him having sex with a cheerleader in our guest room when my brother had a house party," I told him.

"SHIT!" Linus reacted that he lost focus on his driving. Luckily, he didn't hit anything or anyone.

I shrieked, of course. "Dude, eyes on the road."

"Sorry. But seriously. Damn, girl. That made my past rejections and breakups less painful."

"That time, it made a bullet to your chest less painful."

"Golly... that's just... ugh... And they did it in the guest room of your house," Linus expressed in a disgusted way. "What were they thinking?"

"I think they were drunk. There were a bunch of empty beer cans lying around the house the next day," I said.
