The dinner was wonderful.
It was nice to see them. Catching up and going on about our high school days after we had our dinner. It felt refreshing. The whole night we were just chatting and laughing.
It was sort of a long night, and Fallon had to bring Ada to the hotel room to sleep.
So, it was me, Alden, and Jake. It felt like we were teenagers again. It was just like this. Just the three of us hanging out, talking and joking around.
We even ordered cocktails. Back then, we only had sodas and chips.
"Remember one time when you and Erwin stole a vodka from your Dad's cabinet to bring it to Orville's party in his penthouse?" Alden asked.
"Oh, yeah, I do. It was wild," Jake chuckled.
"I remember Erwin was so wasted that he puked all over the place," I added.
You know, my brother was popular since he was on the basketball team with Jake. The cool part about it was that I got to be invited to a lot of parties.
Even after he graduated, I still get invited. Although there was a time when I didn't attend because I wasn't as much of a party person as my brother.
Anyway, Alden received a text from Fallon. "Oh, I'd better get back to my room. Ada needs me."
I got worried a bit there. "Is there a problem?"
"Not really, Ada woke up from a nightmare. She's crying right now, and I'm the only one who can put her back to sleep."
"Aww... poor thing. Well, it is getting late anyway. I'd better get back to the inn. Thanks for tonight."
"Will you be okay on the way there? I mean, you had a cocktail," Alden questioned with a concerned tone. "Maybe we can request a cab."
"There is no cab in Barcon. Besides, I just had one. I'm fine," I assured him. "You guys go on ahead and have a good rest."
"Uhm... Why don't I walk you out?" Jake said.
I was a bit taken aback. "Okay."
So, after the bill was settled. Alden went straight up to his room to be with Ada while I was on my way out to the parking area to get my scooter, and was accompanied by Jake.
We were conversing a little by talking about other stuff that happened back in high school. "By the way, did you hear that Mr. Colton became the new principal?"
"What? No way," I replied, being amazed by the news. "When did that happen?"
"A few years ago, after Mrs. Shep finally retired."
"Well, he deserves it. He was one of my favorite teachers."
"Mine too," Jake replied. "He would offer after-school tutoring when I was failing Physics."
"I'm happy for him. I wish I were there to see it," I told.
Eventually, we got to the parking area and went to my scooter. Jake looked amazed. "Whoa, you have a Vespa?"
"Yup."
"Cool, I've never seen one in person before. It's so elegant. I always wanted one. Where'd you get this?"
I got quiet while I put on my helmet. "It was Topher's."
"Oh..." He looked awkward. "Ahem... It's really cool,"
"Yeah, I love it too. It's easy to go around."
"I bet. The black ones really look so classy. This looks like an old model."
