"Baby?" I choked in disbelief.

"Yes, your baby," the doctor nodded, as if I knew what she was talking about. "Is there a problem?"

"There must be some mistake... I'm not pregnant."

"Oh, according to the bloodwork, you are."

"That can't be right," I responded, feeling very in denial about it.

"If you want, you can do a pregnancy test here in the hospital to make sure," the doctor suggested.

"Okay, I'll go do that."

A nurse gave me a urine cup and told me how much to fill it, then left me alone. Before entering the restroom, I tried to understand everything that was happening. It made me remember that I had slept with Topher before he left.

I guess I was so busy grieving for his demise and being with Roy that I didn't think to consider that I was pregnant all this time. It made sense why I was getting hungrier around that time and why some of my pants didn't fit me.

My heart pounded, and my thoughts raced. Still, don't get me wrong-the idea of getting pregnant was the best thing I could imagine, because it meant I'd always have a piece of Topher with me.

Time passed, and I did my urine test and anxiously waited for the result in the doctor's office. "It's positive," she informed with a warm smile on her face.

I was over the moon. "Oh, my God. Positive? It's positive?"

"Yes."

"So, I really am pregnant. How can that be? It's been two months and... I had no idea."

"It happens sometimes. Some women experienced that they didn't know that they were pregnant because they didn't have the usual symptoms like vomiting and fatigue."

I nodded in response. "I understand."

"I had a patient one time who had no idea that she was pregnant until she had to give birth."

"Good thing I found out seven months earlier."

"Good point. Anyway, I will prescribe you some medication for you and your baby," the doctor said.

"Alright, thank you," I replied with a polite smile.

Later, after buying my meds from their pharmacy, I happened to see a couple with what looked like a four-month old baby walking past me. They seemed so happy that it made me think that it could've been Topher and me with our child.

My fantasy was disrupted when my phone buzzed. Apparently, my brother messaged me to go have lunch with him in the hotel. I wanted to tell him, but it wouldn't sound good by text.

On my way there, I was soaking up my pregnancy like a sponge. I still couldn't believe it.

I got on the bus to go to the hotel, since I'd left my scooter at the studio. Even if I'd had it, I wouldn't have ridden it, not once I knew I was going to have a baby. That thought kept repeating in my head over and over.

When I arrived, I entered the lobby and let Alden know where I was. But before I got to tap send, Jake immediately spotted me as he got out of the elevator. "Auds!" he beamed, then ran up to hug me.

I hugged him back. "Hi, Jake," I said softly.

Not long after, my brother came with his family. He quick embrace, while his Fallon was behind him, looking rather bashful as she carried Ada, then he saw the gauze on my head when he pulled away, "Oh wow, that looks bad," he remarked. "Does it hurt?"

"Yeah, but it's not that bad," I answered.

"I'm glad you're okay," Jake added.

"Me too," Fallon uttered shyly, then put my niece so she could be with her favorite aunt.
