The next day, I had to be in the studio because Mav was still not back yet, so I had to lend a hand for Jo's photoshoot for the bride with the light reflectors and all.
I didn't have to be there the whole day. I was going to leave to be with my brother before lunchtime. Roy was there too to continue his research and take some photos of my studio.
The bride wore her bridal robe and posed in the room we had cleaned before wearing the Anne Lowe wedding dress. I was wondering how very lucky she was to be wearing to walk down an aisle that was designed by a legend, while holding the reflector. I guess she did if she wanted it to have a photoshoot.
Damn, these brides and the money they spent for an editorial-like picture of themselves just to post on Instagram, or whatever. Unless they're famous or elites, to be not on the cover of a magazine.
Well, that's Jo's kind of clientele. Mine and Linus's are real fashion editorial works. But hey, whatever brings home the bacon.
My brother had that kind of wedding with the photoshoot and the same-day video edits. He hated it, but he had to agree for the woman he loved. The thing was, if it were up to him, he would just have a simple church wedding and reception.
Anyway, it made me think what was supposed to be mine to have. Again. Well, not the wedding dress, just the wedding. My simple court wedding with an altered vintage wedding dress. That would have been the happiest day of my life.
Ugh... Life is so unfair.
Looking back, maybe I should not have been there by making up a stupid, yet convincing lie to not be there. Anything was better than being there to remind me what I couldn't have with Topher.
About an hour later, the bride had to retouch her makeup and hair, and also chat with her about her big day. All of a sudden, Linus came to me as he held my arm. "Sorry to interrupt, but I need to borrow my colleague," he said.
From his demeanor, I had no idea what had gotten into him and what was so important that he had to drag me away to the side. Coincidentally, by a window. "Linus, is everything okay?" I asked. "Why do you have to... pull me here?"
"My question first. Did you tell your brother to come and pick you up?"
I was surprised and confused. "No, I'm going to meet them at the hotel later. Why?"
"So you didn't tell them to come here?"
"No. What are you talking about?"
"Look." Linus pointed to the window that was facing the front yard. I looked down and was shocked to see the shuttle and 'them' there.
"Oh! My God!" I reacted so loudly that it got my client and Jo's attention.
"Is something wrong?" Jo asked.
I had to smile politely to avoid awkwardness. "No. No. Everything is fine. I thought I saw a spider." Then turned to Linus again. "Why are they here?"
"I don't know, I thought you called them here."
"Crap. They're gonna see Roy."
"Don't worry, I asked Emmy to take care of it. I mean... him. Roy is at the old library on the third floor with her. So just text Emmy if they're gone," Linus instructed.
I sighed in relief. "Thanks, you're a lifesaver. I owe you one." Then I went to my client to tell her that I will be back really quickly.
I hurried down the stairs, and once I got halfway there, I saw Alden with Fallon, Ada, and Jake. That was when I had to slow down to avoid any suspicions.
