"Congratulations are in order for all of you." Giovanni then gestured with his glass. "Especially our winners Admins Von and Cantrell. You both have shown the power of the Foreign Ministry in excellent fashion. As a reward for your speedy victory you'll each get a doubled victory bonus check."

They both beamed in excitement and responded with a firm "Thank you, your majesty!".

Tyrael, Darius, Von, and Cantrell later had a dinner party with all the officers in celebration of their flawless victory.

Royal Palace

Kaios walked into the emperor's throne room. Emperor Ludius sat upon his throne as he greeted Kaios and gestured to the other participants to begin. Today's topic, the mysterious loss of the Oversight Army.

"Arde, as Supreme Commander, please put forth the problem." Started Ludius.

"Yes your majesty, as you may know by now the Oversight Army was dispatched by Director Kaios to punish the rowdy Fennese for rejecting a proposed trade deal. Yesterday they missed their evening report and the next morning they failed to report their arrival or the beginning of the invasion."

"Do we know what happened to the missing fleet?" asked Remillie. "Surely you've come to us with answers."

"That I have, a fast scouting ship was dispatched after the first severely later report. Late last night the ship reported to find an entire fleet's worth of debris and bodies drifting in the ocean halfway to Fenn."

"My apologies Commander, but you're saying that the entire Oversight Army was what, destroyed?" questioned Remille. "I don't believe for even a second of a second that there is a force in these waters that could challenge any of our fleets!"

"Vindus, I assume you found the same things?" Ludius looked expectantly at his Intelligence Department Head.

"Yes your majesty, in coordination with the military and the 3rd Foreign Affairs Department we can confirm that the Oversight Army was destroyed but we haven't been able to find any clues as to who the culprit was." Vindus then looked to Kaios. "Might you have any idea, Director?"

"Unfortunately not, I can not think of a single nation or alliance within the 3rd civilized area that could best the Oversight Army so totally."

"Vindus, double your efforts into finding out the enemy responsible and Arde start preparing our military for a possible conflict!" Ludius ordered.

"I happen to actually agree with Director Kaios. There's no way any country in our region in the world that could do this. This must be the work of a foreign superpower and I believe it to be Mu." Remille walked a bit closer to Ludius, smiling.

"Why is that my lady?" asked Arde.

"Even I have heard of these ridiculous "homing arrows of light" rumors. However those stupid savages have to get their delusions from something and it's no secret that Mu has been making more of an effort diplomatically in some of the uncivilized countries. I believe that they are attempting to take over our influence by giving their new experimental technology to one of the stupid and uncivilized nations in the eastern ocean to use them as a proxy to divide and weaken us!" The room simply stared at her pondering her accusation.

"Well... while it is indeed possible I for one believe it to be something else. Why would the Muans give barbarians any recent technology, much less cutting edge experimental ons?" As hard as Kaois thought it just didn't make sense. Sure the Muans were getting a bit friendly but they've done nothing to suggest they would enter anything more than some shallow diplomacy.

"Interesting, I wish to explore this idea at its source. You both have reasons for your points of view so I believe we should summon the ambassador to settle this." Ludius eyed the room for dissent and found none. He knew that it was a longshot that Mu were behind this offence but it was worth exploring, especially if it satisfied Remille and her overly intense personality. Besides, he hadn't seen a half decent grilling in a while.

"I'm glad you feel that way your grace. I have already taken the liberty to have him summoned in the room waiting for us." Remellie smiled at him with an eager look.

"Excellent, bring him in."

Mugei walked into the throne room slightly nervous but with a neutral exterior. Being kept in the dark for the reason for his summons wasn't unusual for the Parapaldians. Not having his own idea is what was worrisome. He needed to wrap this up quickly so he could finish reading the report on this new Viridian Empire.

"Good Afternoon." He bowed and awaited for the stream of questions, they were never kind with them. Ludius then leaned forward and began.

"Yes but not so much for use, tell me ambassador what do you know of Parapaldia's Oversight Fleet?"

"It is your roaming punishment unit."

"Indeed, it enforces our rightful superior will over the entire continent and surrounding areas. Seeing as you know this I will let Lady Remellie take over." Mugei internally groaned.

"Mr. Mugei, recently our Oversight Army faced a loss out at sea on its way to raze Fenn. Even though the Oversight Army is equipped with our older equipment and vessels they are still leagues above any other nation in the 3rd civilized area. I find it hard to believe that this win was achieved without outside help."

"I assure you that the Kingdom of Mu has absolutely no involvement with this attack on your forces." No wonder they're annoyed, their brutal bath tub fleet was dinged up in a battle.

"Oh really, so you're denying any accusations that you may be aiding Fenn or one of its neighboring nations with experimental Muan technology!"

"Please my lady, no such thing is happening!"

"Then how is it possible for those barbarians to not only stand up to but beat what should be an overwhelmingly powerful force?"

"I promise that however they accomplished it that Mu had no part in it directly or indirectly. However I shall concede that it is indeed unusual." Mugei then turned to Ludius. "Your majesty, with respect, Lady Remille has levied these accusations without any proof. Further debate on this matter would only be taken as a slight in time wasting." While bold in language put his hand up to stop anyone from responding for him.

"Your words are heard ambassador, as is the tone you let seep through. Let it be noted that the Parapaldia Empire will be exploring this and all other possibilities."

"Noted, your majesty."

"You may leave now." Mugei briskly walked out of the throne room and departed for his office.

"Well Remille, as interesting as your theory is, it appears that the ambassador truly knows nothing, and if he does it will be exceedingly difficult to prove. But for now we shall table this issue to focus on more actionable events. Gentlemen, the tension in the Altaras Strait. What's the current state of the situation?" Now this was something Kaios was truly prepared for.

"As you already know the Altaras Kingdom has been experiencing some civil unrest and rises in crime. Compounding that with our tribute deal of magic gems and the Altaras Kingdom has found itself in some mild financial difficulties. We have been able to confirm that the sponsor behind this unnaturally quick rise in crime was, predictably, the Republic of Sios."

"Ah yes the floating garbage heap of criminal barbarian scum."

"The crime families of Sios have been propping up extension organizations to exploit and dominate the Altaran criminal underground. However from what has been reported it seems to be just bad timing for Altaras. I believe we should keep an eye on it so nothing too drastic happens without our input but other than that it seems to be nothing new."

"I don't like the amount of power Sios is able to wield off their island. Tighten security around our ports and place more thorough searching protocoles on ships from Sios."

After some final preparations related to the tension in the strait the meeting was adjourned. With these new developments right on their borders Parapaldia would step forward with shining conviction to crush any problems knocking on their door.
