Jamie and I were curled up against each other in bed. The sadness and anger was too much to handle alone.

He looked me in my eyes and whispered, "What are we supposed to do now?" His voice was broken and you could clearly hear that he cried.

"I don't know." I whispered back. "But what I do know, is that we shouldn't give up. We need to finish this, now more than ever." It hurt to go on like this, especially since my mom just died, but we needed to go on. We needed to kill that bastard.

"How can you still go on after his?" Jamie asked incredulously. "After everything that happened, you still want to find the murder? Think Chloe, look at the time! It's less than two hours ago we found mom dead and you want to go on? We can't turn back time, just as dad said. The only way to do that is to turn the clock back, but I mean, that's not even really turning back time. It's just-"

"Jamie shut up!" I screamed while I sat up. "You just gave us our next letter." He looked at me with a weird face, his eyes still red and puffy.

"What do you mean?" I didn't react and walked to mom and dad's bedroom and grabbed their clock. I turned it around and thought about the numbers. His birthday was at 6-04, so I guess we need to use that time. Four past six.

I turned the clock back and back, until I heard a click. I smiled a bit and opened the backside. And there it was, in all its glory.

The next letter.

I grabbed it and hung the clock back in its place. I slowly walked back to Jamie, who sat in bed, his head in his hands and shoulders shocking. He was crying again. I sighed and laid the letter down on his desk. I lowered myself next to him and pulled him in a hug.

"Shh, it is going to be alright." I tried to make him feel better, but it was no use. He was only crying more and more, until I couldn't handle it anymore.

"Jamie!" I screamed. He was shocked and pulled up his head. "Enough okay? I know it is hard, it will always be hard, but we have to move on. I know it's soon, and I know it hurts too damn much, but we have to go on and find that bastard!" I slammed my hands down on his desk and looked at him.

"Are you in or not? Either way, I will go on and kill that sick asshole." The coldness in my voice was unknown to myself, but I guess losing your parents did that to you. He looked at me with nothing more but emptiness in his eyes and stood up.

"I'm in." He wipped away his tears and stood up straight. "You are not alone in this. We only have each other now, so we need to stick together. We are going to make him pay for everything he did to us." The determination in his voice was something I hadn't heard before, but it was something I liked about him.

He was finally growing up.

He stood right next to me and threw an arm around my shoulder. "I love you Chloe, you know that right? You are always here for me when I need you to be strong, and now I need to be there for you too." He smiled a bit and kissed my temple. I looked up at him and smiled back.

"I love you too Jamie. Now, enough with the mushy stuff, let's open the letter." He nodded and I pick up the letter.

I started to read with a beating heart.

"Remember what I told you about the money?

I'm sorry, I lied. The money isn't hidden, it's gone. I used it for other things. Things that I can not tell you. Once again, I am sorry.

I am also sorry I left you with that debt. That I left you alone. I am sorry about all the things that I've done. I am sorry.

But you still have my precious jewel. Your mother." My eyes went wide when I read that. Our mother. She was gone, but he obviously didn't know that since he himself is gone too.

Shit.

"She was my everything, my dime, my gem, my gold, just the one and only love in my life. I am sorry I let her alone and please guys, don't tell her about what you are doing. It would break her heart to see you kids doing illegal shit to find my killer

But the journey is almost over. Only two more letters to go and then you will know who the killer is. In the last letter, you will see someone else's handwriting. That's because I made someone watch my dead, and write down the person's name who pulled the trigger.

I handed the letters over to him, and he hid them. I won't say his name, not that it really matters, you don't even know him. But still, he helped me with this, so give him some credit.

Once again, I am so so sorry. Find my dime. My most precious.

You'll be fine."

Jamie and I looked at each other wordlessly. Another man who was involved with this mess. I don't know how many secrets I can take in.

First, there was money. Then there wasn't. There are so many unknown things, I just can't take it anymore.

I fell on the ground and Jamie sat next to me, holding me close. I broke down crying, and I don't even know why. I was strong all these times, so why do I cry now? It's not fair.

Jamie hugged me tight and stroked my hair. He didn't say anything, but he didn't have to.

Our silence said enough.

All I could think about was one question. One stupid question that's bugging me since the day we started.

Dad, why did you do this?
