His eyes looked deep into mine and I was frozen. He just stood right in front of me. I hadn't seen him since I shot his dad in his leg. I cleared my throat and lowered my eyes.
"How is your dad?" I awkwardly asked him. His fist clenched a little beside him, but soon enough he let them go again. I looked up into his eyes and I saw how much emotions were hidden in them.
"How would I know? I don't live with him anymore." My mouth opened in shock and I looked at him.
"Really?" I asked. He nodded his head and put his hands in his pockets.
"Why not?" He looked everywhere but me and started talking.
"When I found out what he did to you, I couldn't look him in the eyes anymore. I tried to forget it, but I really couldn't so I decided to go away. I live with Blaze now." My heart swell up at his words. He left his dad because of me?
"Elliot" I sighed. "You didn't have to do that for me. What done is done, there is nothing more you can do about this." He wiped his head up and anger was clear in his eyes.
"But I have to do something! He killed your mom Chloe, did you forget that? I want nothing to do with him. This was just the last straw for me. When he first commanded me to follow you, I thought it was a good idea. I got to spend more time with you and at the same time, I could get to know you better. My plan was to make you fall in love with me and tell me everything. I never planned to betray you. All I wanted was for you to love me." He lowered his head in shame and muttered on.
"But he clearly couldn't keep his offer fair." I fiddled with my coat and looked around.
"No, he clearly couldn't. But I don't understand why you would do this for me. You don't owe me anything." He took a step closer and took my hand in his.
"Because I love you Chloe. When I said this before, and Max slapped me because of it, it really made me wonder what I did wrong. I began to think of everything that I did wrong and the people I lost and all I wanted was to turn my life around. I wanted to make myself a better man, and change myself for the better. I want to be a person to love, a person who is nice and acceptable, not a murder. I know I can't erase the past, but Chloe, will you please forgive me?" I looked into his pleading eyes and started to weight my options.
Would it be a good idea to take him back as my friend?
I decided I got nothing to lose. I looked up in his eyes and squeezed his hand.
"Elliot, you broke my trust, and once it's broken, it can't be healed easily, but I am willing to give you a second chance. Please don't fuck it up again." His eyes lit up as the firework on the fourth of July and he pulled me in a hug.
"Thank you so much, I won't disappoint you again!" he exclaimed, and I could only laugh because of his happiness.
He really did love me.
"Elliot, would you mind bringing me to your house? I need to talk to Blaze." He nodded his head and gestured for me to follow him. We talked for about twenty minutes, until we finally arrived at his house. I wondered how he found this. It was a sort of tree house. It was really cool.
Elliot saw me looking and he held out his hand. "Ready to climb?" the smirk on his face couldn't be missed and I smirked back.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I took his hand and we started to climb the tree.
After five minutes, we finally arrived at the top and I looked my eyes out.
It wasn't really big, but enough for Blaze and Elliot. There were two beds, one red couch, a television and some chairs. Surprisingly, it was very neat and clean. It really wasn't as in all those movies. Guys can be clean too.Blaze walked into the room and smiled when he saw me. "Chloe, I missed you!" he walked up to me and gave me a hug. His big arms closer around my small shoulders and I smelled his scent. He really smelled good.
I pulled back and looked him in the eyes. "Blaze, I need to talk to you." I looked back at Elliot who stood there a bit awkwardly and I nodded at him.
"You can come and sit here, I don't mind if you hear what I say." Elliot let out a breath and walked towards up. I lowered myself at the couch and looked at them seriously.
"Guys, I am so close to finding my dad's killer and I really need some advice. What if I can't kill him the moment I know who he is? You know, I killed one man before, and with the fire a hand full, and it really disgusts me to take someone's life." I looked down and fiddled with my hands.
"Chloe, you shouldn't think too much about it. It's a life for a life. He took your dad's, now you will take his." Blaze stated. There was some anger and determination in his voice what made me look at him.
"You know you have to do this, otherwise, your whole journey was for nothing. You did so much to come to this point, and now you have to go through. That's why I am going to help you, but not before I'll tell you this." Blaze grabbed a paper out of his pocket and held it in his hand.
He looked in my eyes and took my hands in his.
"Charlie has been lying to you."
