I slowly opened my eyes when I heard someone talk. "Who do you think you are?" I heard someone whisper yell. I saw I was on the back of Nate and Charlie was there too. They were talking to someone.

Someone in a wheelchair.

"You didn't think now that my gang is destroyed I am going to let you go? I want my money!" I immediately recognized the voice as Mark's. I began to move on Nate's back, but didn't say anything. I knew he noticed that I was awake, but he didn't say anything either.

Charlie slowly stepped forward and towered over Mark. "You won't get that money, no matter how much you threaten us. You got nothing on us. You can't even walk for god's sake! Who even did that to you?" Charlie laughed bitter and took a step back.

Mark looked at his leg and smiled a bit. "Your precious girlfriend shot me in the leg to safe herself." Charlie's eyes widened and he looked at me. I quickly closed my eyes and listened closely.

"When?" he asked, clearly mad I didn't told him.

"A couple of days ago. She came to me and demanded an answer on who killed her mom, but we both know the answer on that one, don't we?" Mark smirked again and I resisted the urge to turn my head to Charlie and accuse him. Charlie didn't say anything but kept his eyes on Mark.

He was hiding something.

In that moment, Nate decided to step in. "It doesn't matter anymore. All that matters is that you won't get the money you demand. There is no one to help you kill us and there is no one left to kill." He sadly said. "You can shove that money up in your ass. You made Chloe's life harder and harder to her breaking point, so you won't get one dollar of us. Not one. I suggest you go back to that stupid house of yours and make plans with my supposed to be brother."

I totally forgot Mark adopted Nate.

Mark's face turned into a scowl and he looked up at Nate. "So this is what I get? After all I've done for you? You are such an ungrateful child." Mark shook his head and I felt Nate's body tense up.

"Ungrateful?" he whispered incredulously. "I am not ungrateful. I simply help the ones who are right, the ones who need me. I fight for justice, and you, father" he spit out the word with nothing more but hate, "should know that by now. All you did these years was turn me into a murderer. A person who was controlled by his fear to lose love. A young boy, with nothing more than his body, because his soul was sucked into the murders. He was empty. Nothing."

Nate took a deep breath and looked Mark in his eyes.

"I despise you. I despise every little thing of you and I never considered you as a dad. You were nothing more than a person who gave me a roof and something to eat. Nothing but a heartless, ignorant person." Mark's face didn't even change, he only smirked.

"That's the side I always wanted to see, Nathaniel. You were always such a softy, you still are. Look at what you are doing. You are betraying your own dad for what? A girl you love, but has a relationship with her best friend? You will be nothing more than a third wheel, an side person, an-" he didn't get to finish his sentence, because Charlie punched him in the face. Blood dripped out of his nose and his head turned back.

"You bastard! You have no right to talk, you murderer!" Mark's head came up again and he looked at Charlie.

"You are one to talk. You killed more persons than I ever have and that all because of your precious daddy. It's sad, you couldn't even resist him." He spit his blood on the ground and coughed. "But don't worry, your secret's safe with me. I won't tell anyone what you are. I won't tell your girlfriend what you did. I won't tell, but don't expect anything else from me. You can leave the money, I don't even need it. But remember, I will be back and when I do, I will not hesitate to make you pay for what you did to me and my people." Mark looked at Nate again and nodded.

"Farewell son." He blinked a couple of times and turned around in his wheelchair. The minutes seemed to go too slow when he wheeled away, but when he was finally out of sight, I jumped off of Nate's back and looked at my friends.

"Thank you so much guys, really." I hugged Nate first and whispered in his ear, "Don't worry Nate, together, we can conquer everything." I pulled back and he smiled down at me. The adoration and love in his eyes made me swoon.

He really cared about me and I about him.

Then, I turned to Charlie. He was staring at the spot Mark stood a couple of minutes ago. I knew for sure he was replaying his words in his head. I walked towards him and pulled him in a hug too. He responded immediately and pulled me close to his chest. I kissed his cheek and he cheekily smiled at me.

I had a feeling everything was going to be okay.

That was, until I remembered I was close to finding my dad's murderer.

I opened the box where I hid all the letters. I just knew I needed them somehow. I picked up the last one and read it again.

And again.

And again.

"Find my dime, my most precious."
His dime. My mom.

His most precious. Jewels.

My mom's jewels box.

I don't know if I can face this one, but I have to. I have to be strong and do this.

I need Jamie's help.

Now.
