Chapter 6: Unrealistic reality

It was dark. Too dark. The silence was overwhelming. I was all alone in a dark building. I didn't know how I got here, and I don't know where to go. My knee is scraped and my hands are sore. I think I had a fight. I can't remember anything. I try to move, but my hands and feet are tied up. Someone walks out of the dark, towards me. "Any last words Chloe?" His voice is low and husky, but intimidating at the same time. My whole body begins to shiver.

"What do you want from me?" I ask with a trembling voice.

"Nothing sweetheart, I just want you dead." The knife he has in his hands shines in the light. "I am going to ask it one more time, any last words?" He comes closer and I try to scoop away, but because of the handcuffs I aren't able to move.

"NO, please. D-don't kill me. Please, I did nothing wrong. "Tears are boiling up in my eyes and I let them flow. It feels like there is nothing left in me. No hart, no emotions. My whole body goes numb. I stop trying, I know I am already dead.

"Goodbye, Chloe" is the last thing I heard before I feel the knife enter my body.

I woke up and looked around. I felt all over my body, looking if I still am alive. When I realized it was just a dream, I sighed in relieve and laid back down. I was covered in sweat but I didn't care. The dream seemed so real. Maybe is there something it wanted to tell me. Is this my fate? I didn't want to think about it. I just had to ignore all of this. I threw my legs over the bed and stood up. I walked to the kitchen when I heared a sound.

"Hello, is there someone?" I called, but I did't get a reply. "Hello?" I tried again but there is still nothing.

I grabbed a kitchen knife and walked around to the windows. Slowly, I approached the most left one. It is a little bit open and I walked toward it. Then I heared the sound again. Someone was climbing back out of the window, but before he could, I grabbed his shirt and threw him on the ground.

"What are you doing in my house?" The boy looked frightened and handed me an envelope.

"I needed to deliver this letter. I don't know who send it, I just had to give it."

"At this hour?" I ask, with one eyebrow high.

"Yes. I had orders. I can't ignore them." I got a little bit suspicious and I lifted the knife.

"Well, I want you to open the envelope and hand me the letter." He looked afraid, but he did as I said. He opened the envelope and handed me the letter. It was a letter from my dad? How is that possible?

"Did you have to deliver more letters of this kind?"

"No, this was the only one. Can I go now?"

"Yes you can. But if I ever see you again in my house, I won't hesitate to call the cops. Understood?"

"Yes ma'am. I am sorry."

I let him go, not wanting to go to more trouble this time. I swear, I am almost afraid in my own house. I opened the letter.

Sometimes, you need to sacrifice certain things in life. That's what I did. I sacrificed my life for money. It wasn't worth it at all. Somehow, I managed to get it. I know I didn't leave you a good clue in the last letter so I do it now.

My sweetheart, what was your favorite toy when you was younger? I know for sure you will remember it. Sweet Chloe, please, don't get mad right now. I knew I was going to die, so it was too late for me. I know they will haunt you and Jamie until they get the money.

That's why I hid it. I hid it somewhere no one will find it. Not even you. I can't tell you were it is Chloe, I am so sorry. I know you are smart, you will find a way to get it.
But please, please don't be as reckless as I was. I didn't care about my own life. And trust me, life is the most precious thing you can get. Don't waste it. You only have one life, so live like it. Do what you must, but remember, there is always a line.

Not for me though. I crossed that line a long time ago. When I heard Criminal minds had one million dollar, I didn't think about myself anymore. The only thing I could think about was the money. Your mother tried to stop me from getting it, but I wouldn't listen. I did everything to get the money, without thinking about the consequences. That's why I paid the ultimate price. My life.

When I finally got it, I immediately hid it. It isn't supposed to be found. They haunted me, and I always found a way to avoid them. But I guess it wasn't good enough.

You must think about how I know all these things. I was smart, smarter than some people know. I already predicted what was going to happen so that's why I send you these letters. I hid them about a week before I died. I knew you would search for answers. And I am glad you did.

Only remember, don't put your life on the line for me or this mystery. Act wisely Chloe, you only have one chance. You and Jamie are supposed to work together in this, and I hope you do. I trust you both with everything I have, so I know you will unravel this mystery. Find what belongs to you, and go for justice. Kill the killer, I know it is much to ask, but you can do it. You can do everything, if you only believe in yourself. Take care Chloe, Jamie needs you. Just as much as you need him.

Once again, take care of yourself and your beloved ones. I have faith in you. I love you, don't ever forget that."

So he knew all this? What was it, and how. And another problem, my favorite toy. I gave it to someone. I know where my pony is, I just didn't know if I'll can get him back. I once again have to face my past, because I gave it to the one person I thought would never leave me.

Rebecca.
