60. Distraction and Deception

Ri's Room

The house was asleep, but Anu and Ri sat near the window, whispering.

Anu: "She's getting suspicious. Yesterday I caught her hovering near your door again."

Ri (nodding): "We need to keep an eye on her every move now. No more slipping."

Anu: "Exactly. Before she finds something, let's find out what she's looking for."

Ri (smirking): "Chalo. Spy game activated. But first..."

He suddenly pulled Anu toward him, making her land softly against his chest.

Anu (startled): "Ri!"

Ri (grinning): "Strategy meeting ke beech mein thoda romantic motivation toh chahiye na."

Anu tried to push him away, but his arms tightened.

Anu (rolling her eyes): "Tu na... ek din pakda jayega."

Ri (with a wink): "Tab tak toh main tujhe pakad chuka hoga."

She shook her head, half-smiling, and got up—leaving Ri with his usual nonsense.

Morning......

Leela stood near the bushes, muttering to herself.

Leela (thinking): "Aaj kuch na kuch toh pakadke hi rahungi. In dono ladkiyon mein kuch toh baat hai jo chhupi hai."

She noticed Avu sweeping near the backyard and decided to sneak into the servants' quarters. She tiptoed in, opening one creaky door after another.

Inside, she found only a few neatly folded clothes, some books...all in English.

Leela (gritting her teeth): "Yeh angrezi kitaabein? Naukrani ko angrezi ka kya kaam?"

She flipped through the pages but found nothing. Frustrated, she walked out—only to be spotted by Anu and Ri from behind the tree.

Ri (clenching his fists): "Bas yehi reh gaya tha. Mein jake iski choti kheench ke laata hoon!"

Anu (grabbing his arm): "Shhh! Usse kuch nahi mila. Toh humein bhi kuch nahi kehna."

Ri (muttering): "Ek din iski choti ki jaga main mic chipkaunga. Fir pata chalega"

Anu held back a smile.

Late Morning – Near Sid's Room

Inside Sid's room, Avu and Sid were tangled in sheets, lying close—Sid with no t shirt on and Avu's dupatta lying down the bed. Avu's hair spilled across Sid's chest while his fingers traced slow circles on her bair waist.

Outside, Leela approached with a glass of juice, muttering:

Leela (whispering): "Ab dekhte hain... Sid babu kaise mujhe pasand nahi karenge meri itni seva dekhne ke baad..."

She reached for the doorknob, about to push it open—when suddenly—

Anu and Ri came running from the side corridor—laughing, holding hands, deliberately loud.

Ri: "Preeta, ruk jaa! Sab dekh lenge!"

Anu: "Toh dekhne do! Tujhe problem kya hai?"

They ran toward Ri's room, brushing past Leela. Startled, Leela forgot all about Sid's room and chased after them, suspicious putting the glass on the table.

Leela (thinking): "Inka kya chakkar hai ab? 

As she reached Ri's door—it was slightly open.
