Rays of sunlight flitters through the window, basking the room in a glowing golden hue. It stretches further the more the sun rose higher until the light could touch every corner of the room.

Eclipse's eyes flutter before scrunching closed tight at the brightness that was the cause of waking them. They groan tiredly and turn, bringing their hands to shield their face away. Their body is heavy with the yet-fading wounds and bruises still marking their skin. Their feet stretch to try and elevate the ache in their ankles, but it does little.

They wake up faster than they did the many times before, the darkness that holds them down has loosened enough to allow them a breath without straining, and allowing their mind the privilege to fully wake up.

They are tired still, and the heaviness still lingers strong enough to have them feeling like every part of their being is broken. They are far from being well, still need a lot of care to undo all the pain, but they are no longer in danger of losing their life.

Running slow fingers to get rid of the crust in their eyes, they take note of the absence of the oxygen mask.

It takes them a moment to be able to open their eyes without it hurting so much, and they survey the surroundings. Their mind feels like it is trapped in liquid that swirls and sloshes around whenever they move, blocking away thoughts and feelings. It was hard to think, everything was already becoming overwhelming.

It takes too long for them to get the dizziness to calm down enough to let them think.

They are more than sure this wasn't the same room they were in before. The walls are painted a warm color, unlike the whiteness of the other room. It is a little more spacious and less cold, too. Even their bed is placed differently. There was also a noticeable lack of machinery, and a row of chairs supposedly for the patient's family to visit—

Eclipse suddenly has their breath stolen from them, shoulders rising and eyes widening, willing their mind not to play tricks on them.

Two chairs were smartly positioned in front of each other just a bit away—on one chair, legs were sprawled, wearing familiar shoes, and on the other end, the rest of the body rested in an awkward and most likely uncomfortable position in a poor makeshift cot. The person is obviously asleep, one hand limply holding a phone that's just about to fall down. Actually, the person looks like they will fall down with that crooked position.

And...

And they can recognize you anywhere.

Sunlight bathes you in its light, but you seem to not be bothered by it. The bruises around your eyes have significantly reduced, but the brace was still on to support your nose as it healed. Your hair is messy, strands standing out in ways they knew you wouldn't allow on a normal day.

They are frozen for a few seconds as they take you over, looking at you as if you could be just a figment of their imagination, a hallucination like all the ones they had when locked in that bathroom.

A shaky hand trails to take the thin blanket that was sprawled out on the bed and rolled it over their head. Their rays get pressed under the material, and they wrap the edges around themselves until only their eyes show, peeking out, wide and observant. Their knees curl up to seek comfort, and they sit there, unmoving, waiting for your image to dissolve and fade.

Your chest rises and falls in even breaths, slower than their own panicked ones. When they follow each inhale and exhale, and as the time stretches with nothing happening, they begin to calm down. Though the heaviness of the reality they found themselves in doesn't disappear, they still could feel their heart slow to a more normal rhythm. It beats against their sternum where their hands lie, gripping the blanket.
