Two. One. Then two and two and one and two.
Three, four, five, six... seven.
One. Two. One. One.
They are two, then one, then two.
Then, they are one for the first time in ages.
Blood runs down their hand like a river—blood that's blue and red and blue. The face blocking everything out is deformed and their mind is struggling to make sense of it. Their skin crawls with shivers as droplets of liquid fall over their cheeks—the feeling absorbing into their overwhelmed senses and they heave with fear.
Ruby red eyes flicker to the side in a moment of desperation, the world spinning like a cartwheel around and around, and a familiar object was just within reach.
Time is like molasses and it sticks their limbs together. Their owner crouches to lock them underneath him, a heavyweight to press them to the ground. To suffocate them.
Their heart beats erratically, knocking against their ribcage like it wanted to escape just like they do.
Pure terror was all they could feel, and their cold, bloodied hand moved in shaky jitters. It grips tightly a discarded bottle, its purple color faded and dirty.
Everything dims with the being above hovering over them, and they lock eyes with his open one, the other shut with blood and broken pieces caved in. Yellow teeth grit in rage and the animalistic urge to kill. The knife is held in a big cruel hand, stained in different colors, and ready to maul.
He plans to be a butcher tonight. He will take practice on them.
Perhaps he will tear them just like they tore their beloved plushie.
Is that how Mr. Goose felt when held in their hands?
Eclipse shuts their eyes and brings both hands forward. They grip the bug spray bottle with all the strength they can manage, and press—
Toxicity fills the face of the monster in front of them and sprays into his remaining open eye like needles to skin. The barbaric man yells, his knee pressing into their injured abdomen and pushes all the air out of their lungs.
Their hands jerk and the bottle slips, tilting the front towards their face in a haste—sprays of something impossibly hot fill their eyes for a second before they get a grip back and push the damnable spray bottle away. It goes clanging somewhere in the corner, the hissing sound of it stopping.
The smell remains. Strong and dizzying.
Eclipse scrambles to stand back up, shaky hands trying to wipe away the sting that burned through their eyes and face, tears dripping and lining across their lips and down their chin like droplets of rain.
Forcefully, they open their eyes. Blurry images are all they see for a moment before they focus back in, and they catch sight of their owner.
The monster is hunched down with the knife fallen to the ground. He has a cup of some liquid at hand, trying to wash away the pain.
They wheeze through the heavy smell, and it clings to them like a toxic perfume.
For a small second, they stand frozen, shaken, and unable to think. Then, their body moves.
They limp and push themselves against the wall for better support as they run towards the door. The closer they get, the more they feel anticipation.
Their mind says they will never escape. It just isn't possible. It shouldn't be in their fate.
