The elevator doors finally slid open with a loud metallic sound. A few office staff who had rushed to fix the malfunction stepped back in shock as the doors revealed Wei Wuxian—holding his unconscious son tightly in his arms.
Without a word, Wuxian bolted out. His eyes were wild, voice trembling as he shouted for space. People froze—no one had ever seen Mr. Wei, the cold, powerful CEO, look so terrified before. His usually calm composure was gone.
He carried Yibo close to his chest, murmuring his name, "Bobo, wake up… please, open your eyes."
But Yibo’s head rested limply against his shoulder. Wuxian’s heartbeat thundered in his ears as he pushed through the lobby and out into the sunlight.
Moments later, his black car roared to life. Tires screeched as he sped away from the building, heading straight for the hospital.
From the top floor, through the wide glass window of his private cabin, Sean Xiao Zhan stood watching. His hand gripped a glass so tightly that it shattered, shards cutting into his skin. Drops of blood fell slowly onto the floor, glistening red under the sunlight.
But Sean didn’t even flinch. His eyes were locked on the car disappearing down the road—his expression dark, unreadable, and heavy with something deeper than pain.
The wind from the open window blew softly against his face, but inside him there was only silence—
A few hours later — Wangji’s Apartment
Wangji sat on the couch, his posture perfectly composed but his mind elsewhere. Across from him, Mrs. Han and Mrs. Kim were discussing an important upcoming event, their voices calm and steady. Yet Wangji’s eyes barely focused—until his phone began to ring.
He glanced at the screen. The name Wei Wuxian flashed again and again.
At first, he ignored it. But the call came once more. And again. Finally, he sighed, picked it up—only to freeze completely at the sound that came from the other end.
A broken voice. A trembling whisper. Panic.
His expression changed instantly. Fear flickered in his usually stoic eyes. Without a word, he stood up so abruptly that both women stopped talking.
"Mr. Wang? What happened? Why do you look so worried? Where are you going?" Mrs. Han asked in confusion as Wangji rushed toward the door.
But he didn’t answer. He didn’t even look back. He simply grabbed his coat and keys, his steps echoing down the hallway as Mrs. Kim and Mrs. Han exchanged shocked glances and hurried to follow.
Hospital Scene
Wei Wuxian sat on the edge of a hospital bed, his hands trembling slightly as he stared at the unconscious figure of his son, Wang Yibo. The steady beep-beep of the heart monitor filled the room.
The doctor adjusted his glasses and said softly, "Mr. Wei, please don’t worry. It’s not serious. He only fainted due to fear and stress."
Wuxian’s head snapped up sharply. "Don’t worry? My son has a panic disorder, and you’re telling me not to worry?"
His voice rose, sharp and trembling with emotion. The doctor stammered, "It’s—it’s mild, sir. He’ll recover with some rest—"
But before he could finish, Wei Wuxian grabbed him by the collar, fury flashing in his red-rimmed eyes. "You call this not serious? Look at his face! He’s pale, weak—he’s suffering!"
The doctor gasped, struggling to free himself from Wuxian’s grip. Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the hallway—
Wangji appeared at the door. His breath came fast, eyes wide in shock as he saw the scene: Wei Wuxian towering over the terrified doctor, Yibo lying unconscious between them.
