Afternoon – Wang Apartment

By now, most of the guests had arrived, but the ones meant to be at the center of the event were conspicuously absent. Yuan and Mrs. Kim were busy managing the arriving crowd, while Yibo and Xuan took full advantage of the freedom—sipping drinks at their leisure, knowing neither Wangji nor Wuxian could stop them. Mrs. Kings and her older brother were occupied elsewhere.

Yibo slammed down a large bottle of alcohol with a dramatic flourish. Xuan raised his eyebrows and teased, "Wow… are you drinking like it’s the last time you’ll ever have a drink? Did you go a thousand years without touching this?"

Yibo puffed up his cheeks, glaring at Xuan. "Bro! If you had a strict mother like mine, you’d understand! Life is full of rules, and I can’t even enjoy my favorite drink without breaking a hundred! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve tested whether it’s okay to drink…"

Xuan rolled his eyes. "Liar… I know exactly how many rules you follow. And judging by the state of your room, I think you drink every day. One day, you won’t be able to survive without it."

Yibo grinned foolishly. "Exactly why you’re my best friend. You always get me."

Xuan’s attention then shifted to the Xiao family—Yanli, Yifei, and Xiao Zhan—who had just arrived. "Look, bro," he nudged Yibo.

Yibo’s gaze landed on Sean, clad in black. He froze, mesmerized. Sean looked so impossibly handsome that Yibo couldn’t tear his eyes away. Xuan, noticing Yibo’s slack-jawed stare, slapped his own hand over Yibo’s mouth. "Hey, watch out, a fly might get in your mouth!"

Yibo spun around, irritated. "Are you kidding me? This apartment isn’t even cheap; there’s not a speck of dirt here, let alone a fly!"

Xuan smirked. "Yeah, but the mess is all in your room. Clothes everywhere, like a landfill…"

Yibo’s eyes narrowed. Guilty… true. His room was chaos incarnate—clothes scattered like they had their own lives.

Sean approached calmly, his usual composed voice cutting through the chatter. "I tried calling you last night. Why didn’t you answer? Your mobile phone kept turning off."

Yibo’s thoughts flashed back to last night. He snapped, almost grinding his teeth. "For you… yes, just for you, my phone is ruined!"

Sean tilted his head, confused.

Yibo clenched his fists, trying to calm himself. "…And Why did that overacting shop yifei pick up your phone yesterday??"

Sean raised an eyebrow, silent for a moment before finally saying, "I can smell the  Jealousy here…"

Yibo flared. "Don’t talk! Don’t try to twist my words. I know you’re starting to like Yifei now, huh? Well, too bad— you don’t care about me anymore. You used me, made me the bottom, and now I have nothing to give you. Baba was right: every time I see you, I need ten, maybe twelve feet of space—or I’ll run the other way. Don’t talk to me.,"  He spun on his heel, leaving the confrontation hanging in the air.

Sean stayed calm, glancing at Xuan with a look that could pierce stone.

Xuan raised his hands defensively. "I did nothing! I didn’t touch him! I was just talking, at a distance, nothing more. Honestly, his anger is over Yifei taking the phone, and because of that, he destroyed his own phone. That’s it! Totally not my fault!"

Xuan’s defense fully laid out, Sean ignored it and continued walking toward the direction Yibo had stormed off, his fury crackling like a caged cat.

Meanwhile, when Mrs. Kim and Yuan saw that some members of the Xiao family had arrived, they quickly went over and began exchanging greetings. Yanli, smiling, asked, "Where are my  A-xian? Where’s  Lan zhan ? I don’t see them."
