Hotel Room – Morning

A faint ray of golden sunlight slipped through the sheer curtains, brushing against Wuxian’s eyelids. His brows furrowed as he slowly blinked awake, his head feeling unbearably heavy and hazy, like fog wrapped in pain.

The moment he tried to sit up, his wrist jerked with resistance—something tugging it back. Confused, he turned his head to the side.

And froze.

Lan Wangji was lying next to him.

Wuxian’s eyes widened so much they almost trembled. Before he could even scream or overreact, Wangji’s lashes fluttered—he must’ve felt the pull on their wrists too, because their hands were tied together with a tie.

Wangji sat up calmly and looked straight at him.
"How are you feeling now?" his voice was quiet but steady.

Wuxian blurted, panic rising in his throat,
"Lan Zhan—what are you doing in my room?!"

Wangji’s gaze hardened slightly.
"Look properly. This isn’t your room."

Wuxian, breathing heavily, finally glanced around. The unfamiliar, elegant interior hit him—it was a hotel room. His heartbeat quickened.
"Why are we here? Why are our hands tied? Who tied us? And why does my head hurt so much? Why can’t I remember anything from last night?"
He clutched his forehead, panic edging into fear.

Wangji spoke firmly,
"Calm down first."

But Wuxian couldn’t stop panicking.
"Did I do something terrible… something you hate?"
His voice trembled as he hurriedly checked—his clothes were still intact. He let out a shaky breath, slightly relieved yet still terrified.

At his words, Wangji’s face subtly went stiff. His silence felt like confirmation.

Wuxian’s throat went dry.
"What… what did I do? I swear I didn’t do anything on purpose— I don’t remember anything…"

Wangji finally spoke.
"You were drugged last night. Lusi came in disguise and spiked your drink. You got intoxicated. She tried to take advantage of you. Luckily, I arrived on time—otherwise her plan would’ve succeeded."

Wuxian stared in shock.
"What are you saying? I only had one drink! My alcohol tolerance is strong. I didn’t even know that woman was Lusi. I never imagined she’d do something like that…"

Wangji’s tone dropped—heavy, tired.
"I’m tired of this, Wuxian. Why do you always drag yourself into trouble again and again? I am exhausted."

He moved to get off the bed—but the tug of the tie forced him to stop. Both of them glanced at their bound hands.

Wuxian whispered, embarrassed,
"Did… I do this too?"

Wangji gave a silent nod.

Wuxian’s cheeks burned in shame as he quickly untied the knot, not daring to look up.

Wangji stood.
"I’ll send a waiter with fresh clothes and breakfast. Clean up first. Then we’ll leave."
Without waiting for a response, he walked out of the room.

Wuxian just sat there, watching him leave with silent guilt tightening his chest. His fingers curled into fists as he thought bitterly of Lusi.

She’d gone too far. He was going to make her pay.
