Late Afternoon
Wei Mansion ~~~
Wei Wuxian finally emerged from his room.
His hair was a mess, eyes swollen, lips dry. Days had passed since Lan Zhan left—and in those days, he hadn’t eaten properly, hadn’t spoken to anyone. The house was quiet, heavy with a stillness that ached in his bones.
"Where’s Yuan?" he asked, voice raspy.
Butler Jin bowed respectfully. "Young Master Yuan has a fever, sir. He’s been unwell since last night."
Wei Wuxian’s eyes widened, and without another word, he ran down the hallway, pushed open the boy’s door.
Yuan was curled on the bed, cheeks flushed, body shaking under the blankets. His small form looked even smaller in sickness.
"Yuan…" Wei Wuxian whispered, kneeling beside him. He brushed back the sweaty hair on the boy’s forehead, guilt tightening in his chest like a vise. "Why didn’t anyone tell me?"
"You were… unwell too, Master Wei," Butler Jin murmured.
"I’m his father," Wei Wuxian snapped, holding the child closer. "Call the car. We’re going to the hospital."

Meanwhile – Airport Departure Gate
Lan Zhan stood near the terminal, passport in hand, bag slung over his shoulder. He wore a mask and a low cap, blending in among the travelers.
Park Jun stood beside him, quiet.
"This is really goodbye then?" Park Jun asked, voice trembling.
Lan Zhan nodded. "For now."
"You could still stay. Face them. Let the truth come out. You did nothing wrong—"
Lan Zhan shook his head. "It’s too late. They wouldn’t listen. They already chose what to believe."
Park Jun swallowed hard. "What about him? Wei Wuxian…?"
A pause.
Lan Zhan’s eyes dimmed. "He made his choice too."
Park Jun’s eyes turned glassy. "You’re stronger than anyone I know. You don’t deserve this pain."
Lan Zhan offered the faintest, broken smile. "It’s not about what I deserve. It’s about protecting what matters now."
His hand dropped to his stomach gently.
"Goodbye, Park Jun. Thank you… for everything."
Then he turned, walking slowly toward the gate—each step further from the world that had destroyed him, and closer to the one he would rebuild for his child.
Hospital Room – Evening
Yuan lay quietly in bed, hooked up to an IV. His little body was warm with fever, but his eyes—those eyes that used to sparkle—were dull now, heavy with something far worse than illness.
Yanli , Cheng and jiang also present because Wei Wuxian called them.
Wei Wuxian sat by his side, holding his tiny hand tightly, guilt gnawing at him.
"Baba…" Yuan’s voice was hoarse.
Wei Wuxian leaned closer immediately. "I’m here, Yuan. I’m not going anywhere."
Yuan blinked slowly, then whispered, " You are my papa!! Where’s my baba…? Why hasn’t he come?"
Wei Wuxian froze.
"I waited… He promised…" Yuan’s lips quivered. "He said he wouldn’t leave like last time."
