Ava's POV

The hospital room was quiet again, but this time, the quiet was different. It wasn't just the hum of machines or the sterile smell of antiseptic—it was anticipation. My heart was pounding, my arms trembling slightly. Today... I was going to see them. My babies.

The door opened softly, and I heard two familiar voices. Alex's calm, steady tone... and Matt's laughter, joined by Skylar's gentle voice.

"They're ready to see you, Mom," Skylar said, smiling. She held Aura Rae in her arms, and Matthew Miles was bundled carefully in a little blanket beside her.

I felt tears prick my eyes. "My babies..." My voice was barely a whisper. I tried to sit up, but Alex was already by my side. He steadied me gently, his hand on my back. "Take your time, Ava. They're right here."

Matt stepped forward, holding out Matthew Miles toward me first. "Come on, little guy. Your mommy's been waiting for you." His voice had a mixture of joy and... something else I couldn't place. Guilt? Longing?

I reached out slowly, my fingers trembling as I touched Matthew Miles' tiny hand. He wrapped his little fingers around mine, and my heart shattered and mended all at once. "Hello, my sweet boy," I whispered. "Mommy's here."

Then Aura Rae was in my arms, cooing softly. I held her close, feeling her warmth, her little breaths against my chest. "And you, my little princess... Mommy's here."

Alex knelt beside me, his eyes never leaving mine. "They need you," he said softly. "You've been through so much, Ava. But they're here now, and they need their mommy."

I nodded, feeling a fierce wave of love I hadn't realized I still had. My babies were here, alive, and depending on me. All the pain, all the fear, it melted away for a moment.

Matt watched quietly from the side, Skylar by his arm, smiling warmly. "You've got this, Ava. They're in good hands now—yours."

I looked at Alex, who gave me a small nod, and then at Matt, and I realized... this moment wasn't about choices or heartbreak. It was about them. Aura Rae and Matthew Miles.

"Mommy loves you both so much," I whispered, tears streaming down my face. I held them closer, letting their tiny bodies soothe my aching heart.

Alex gently brushed my hair back. "They're lucky to have you," he said, voice soft. "And you're lucky to have them."

Matt smiled faintly, still standing beside Skylar. "They're going to grow up knowing how strong their mommy is," he said, his voice proud but quiet.

For the first time in weeks, I felt whole again. I had survived the darkness, and now I had the light—my babies, the love of the people around me... and the knowledge that, somehow, life would keep moving forward, no matter how complicated hearts could get.
