A groan escaped my lips when a gust of chilly wind blew around the room, causing a shiver to run down my spine. Consequently, my eyes fluttered open and darted towards the slightly opened culprit window next to our bed.

The dangling branches of Acacia along with the tiny cuckoo hopping on it bestowed their jibes at me, ensuing a wave of annoyance in my mind.

Kya musibat hai yaar!

I heaved an annoyed sigh and reached my right hand to remove the blanket off me, planning to go shut the stupid window. But, to my surprise, when I reached for the blanket, I couldn't find it.

Huh?

I shifted my drowsy gaze to my body, and found it bare of our fuzzy blanket. Like a reflex, my gaze shifted towards Naina.

Not-so-surprisingly, she was bundled up inside the entire blanket, her head completely covered below it. Only a tiny gap was left next to her nose, giving her a passage to breathe fresh air.

Even though her hibernating instead of clinging to me like an angry Koala seems strange, I couldn't help but let out a sleepy chuckle.

It's a little too cold for her, isn't it?

"I got you, Baby." I whispered, getting off the bed.

Oh ho! Baby? Kal se baby ruk nahi raha.

I walked towards the window and reached my right hand to close it. While doing so, a smile emerged on my lips when I heard the cuckoo sing again, her melodious voice festooning our dimly lit room.

"Good thing you're cute and melodious." I said, playfully, looking at the bird while closing the window.

The tiny bird jumped on the branch once, almost seeming like she was trying to showcase her detest at my words. While landing after the jump, she lost her balance, causing her to slip off the branch. Luckily, that idiot had wings.

As soon as she lost her balance, she flew and sat back on the branch. She then started chirping in small quick notes, sounding like she was screaming at me.

A loud snicker escaped my lips, which I muffled with my right hand.

Kaisi bhondu chidiya hai, Bhai.

"Such an idiot." I said, looking at the bird.

She turned in the opposite direction while I heaved a chuckle and turned around.

We're talking to animals now, Mr. Ishan Awasthi?

With a smile on my lips, I began walking back to the bed. Like always, my eyes found their way to Naina, causing my smile to widen. She was still hiding beneath the blanket, with only a few strands of her hair sprawling over her pillow.
